Requirements
  • You must be studying a postgraduate specialist degree (MSc or PhD) in a quantitative subject such as mathematics, engineering, physics, economics or finance.
  • You must have a record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • You need a ground-up understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence models, including deep learning, with experience applying them in natural language processing or other domains.
  • You must be able to break down complex business problems and address them with a range of models and techniques, using sound judgment about suitability, complexity, and trade-offs.
  • You need strong quantitative skills, including statistics, probability theory, optimisation, and linear algebra.
  • You need good Python and associated machine learning ecosystem skills; understanding of lower-level languages is a bonus.
  • You must complete your studies between 1 May 2026 and 30 November 2027, with all exams completed before the programme start date if applicable.
  • You must have achieved a 2:1 or First, or equivalent, in your undergraduate degree and be on track for or have achieved a pass, merit, or distinction, or equivalent, in your postgraduate degree by 30 November 2027.
  • You must have studied a postgraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science, economics, or finance.
  • You must possess no more than 12 months of full-time relevant work experience.
Responsibilities
  • Develop quantitative, data-driven models and tools for sales and trading and related teams.
  • Engage with Front Office and other colleagues to develop practical, innovative artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Identify suitable data and models, develop and evaluate prototype models rapidly, and help accelerate the adoption of solutions in production.
  • Use quantitative and programming skills to conduct research and implement real solutions for the business.
  • Work on one large project or a series of smaller projects during the internship.
  • Interact with stakeholders and colleagues across the bank.
Desired Qualifications
  • An appreciation of different areas of finance and how they interact is useful.
  • Understanding of lower-level programming languages is a bonus.

AMC launches $4B debt refinancing with $2B notes and new term loan facilities

AMC Entertainment announced a debt refinancing comprising $2,000 million in first lien notes due 2031 and new term loan facilities totalling $1,970 million. The cinema chain will use proceeds from the offering, alongside cash on hand, to refinance existing debt obligations. The refinancing includes an $850 million first lien term loan facility and a $1,120 million second lien term loan facility. AMC will deploy the funds to tender for its outstanding 7.500% senior secured notes due 2029, redeem Muvico's $903.4 million senior secured notes, and repay existing term loan facilities for both AMC and its Odeon subsidiary. The notes will be offered privately to qualified institutional buyers. AMC operates approximately 850 theatres with 9,600 screens globally, making it the largest cinema exhibition company in the United States, Europe and worldwide.

Capital One completes $1.7B senior notes offering in two tranches maturing 2032 and 2037

Capital One Financial has completed a €1.5 billion public offering of fixed-to-floating rate senior notes. The offering consists of two tranches maturing in 2032 and 2037, with coupons of 4.326% and 4.832% respectively. The notes were sold through an underwriting syndicate including Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Capital One Securities. They were issued under existing senior indenture arrangements and registered under the Securities Act of 1933. Capital One entered into a paying agency agreement with The Bank of New York Mellon's London branch to administer payments on the euro-denominated securities. The transaction provides Capital One with continued access to international capital markets and diversifies its funding base through long-dated euro senior notes.

NADBank returns to Swiss bond market with $141M issuance for US-Mexico border projects

The North American Development Bank has completed a CHF 125 million ($155 million) bond issuance in the Swiss market, managed by Deutsche Bank. The bond will settle on 29 September 2026, mature on 29 September 2034, and carry a 1.125% coupon rate. The proceeds will be swapped into Mexican pesos and US dollars to fund infrastructure projects in both Mexico and the US. NADBank's strong credit quality and increased investor base contributed to the favourable terms. Moody's and Fitch recently affirmed NADBank's credit ratings of Aa1/Prime-1 and AA/F1 respectively, both with stable outlooks. The international financial institution, equally capitalised by the US and Mexico, finances environmental infrastructure projects in the US-Mexico border region.

Google launches AI agent for banks with Deutsche Bank as design partner

Google Cloud has launched Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, an AI agent platform designed for regulated banking environments. The tool features a Financial Research Agent with over 50 specialised financial skills and connects to licensed data from providers including D&B, S&P Global, and others. Deutsche Bank served as the design partner and is deploying the agent in its Corporate Bank for German MidCorp clients. The bank plans to evaluate its use in Private and Investment banking divisions. Early adopters include CME Group, BNY, Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group, and Macquarie Bank. The platform emphasises audit-ready features such as confidence scores, explicit methodologies, and source citations. It competes with Microsoft's Agent 365 and Salesforce's Agentforce for Financial Services in the regulated finance sector.
