Requirements
  • A current Medical Assistant certification is required, specifically CMA from the American Association of Medical Assistants, RMA from American Medical Technologists, or NCMA from NCCT.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • The role requires knowledge of age-appropriate patient care, growth and development principles, and assessment and interpretation of patient-status data for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities
  • Perform basic medical care under the direction of a physician or registered nurse within the permitted scope and document the care.
  • Prepare patients for examination by the physician.
  • Share observations about patient progress toward established goals with the physician.
  • Instruct patients and families on medication and treatment directions provided by the physician.
  • Chart on behalf of the provider in the examination room when needed, including the required name, title, date, and time, and ensure the provider signs the chart.
  • Schedule patient appointments and referrals as directed by the physician and perform receptionist duties as necessary.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a medical assistant.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Prior experience in phlebotomy and placing electrocardiogram leads.
