Requirements
  • At least one year of experience is preferred in general ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, or portable ultrasound procedures.
  • Must be eligible for American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers certification.
  • Must obtain American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers certification within six months of hire.
  • Must have successfully completed the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation examination to qualify for the six-month certification grace period, with documentation of a passing grade.
  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited sonography school or sonography program.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and comply with life, safety, fire, hazardous waste, radiation safety, and infection control requirements.
  • Maintain licensure and participate in continuing education units.
  • Perform portable, emergency room, general, and vascular ultrasound procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and complete paperwork associated with the job function.
  • Maintain the work area.
  • Assist with patient flow and care, perform various testing, and assist providers.
  • Perform clerical activities including registration, scheduling, filing, telephone duties, pulling and preparing charts, faxing, copying forms and charts, and completing forms.
  • Participate in departmental on-call requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Registered Vascular Technologist certification.
  • Training in elastography, thyroidectomies, pediatric studies including echoencephalography, hips, and spines, peripheral vascular resistance studies, transcranial Doppler studies, gynecological examinations, and vascular examinations including arterial and venous duplexes, dialysis grafts, extremity mappings, carotids, and abdominal venous studies.
