Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from ACEN-accredited or CCNE-accredited program
  • Registered Nurse with a current Texas state license including Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Proficiency using the nursing process in providing care for clients with chronic conditions, rehabilitation, wound care and dementia population
  • Participates and collaborates in interdisciplinary care meetings and provides patient and family teaching
  • Applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care
  • Identifies potential client problems and takes appropriate nursing measures including addressing ethical issues
  • Functions effectively in a team leader/leadership role and uses team approaches to identify, analyze and resolve problems
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of client care in alignment with accrediting/regulatory bodies, the Veterans Affairs and Nursing Service mission, philosophy, goals, and standards
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with clients, families or significant others, professional and supportive personnel who provide client care and with members of other services
  • Acts to avert or manage situations to meet client needs in a safe/therapeutic manner
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills and tact in dealing with patients, families and staff
  • Demonstrates proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations
  • Has the physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures and perform nursing care in an emergency
Responsibilities
