Requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other classroom technologies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard Ultra to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
  • Associate degree in a related health sciences area with current Texas licensure, certification, or registration in that health field and three years of non-teaching work experience with demonstrated competencies related to the teaching field; or
  • Registered nurse with a bachelor's degree or higher and current Texas licensure, certification, or registration; or
  • Registered nurse with an associate's degree and current Texas licensure, certification, or registration plus three years of non-teaching work experience; or
  • Medical Doctor degree with current Texas licensure, certification, or registration; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a related health sciences area, such as Pharmacy, Health Information Management, or Medical Records Administration, with current Texas licensure, certification, or registration in that health field.
  • Ability to work safely, follow safety rules, and lift 10 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach courses in the Allied Health Sciences department to a multicultural student population based on approved course learning outcomes, using instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and discipline standards.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide non-discriminatory teaching and mentoring services to students.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by academic leadership.
  • Use the college's learning management system appropriately.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
  • Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
  • Attend and participate in collegewide, campus, department, and other activities and meetings.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures and professional standards for teaching in a community college.
  • Work in classroom, clinic, and laboratory settings and perform required standing, walking, sitting, and reaching.
