  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit or department.
  • Maintain a current State of Florida registered nurse license or a valid eNLC multistate registered nurse license.
  • Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Hold ACLS, NRP, PALS, or TNCC certification when required for certain areas; NRP is required for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Have at least one year of experience unless approved by an AVP level or above.
  • For Hospital Care at Home, have two years of acute care nursing experience.
Responsibilities
  • Administer patient care in a hospital, inpatient, or observation setting where acute care patients receive active treatment for an injury, illness episode, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.
  • Assess patient needs, develop or revise an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses, and evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
  • Build respectful relationships with team members and customers while respecting diversity.
  • Act as a patient and family advocate.
  • Provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served in the assigned area.
  • Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  • Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit or department effectively.
  • Model professional conduct for staff and support hospital and nursing department goals and strategies.
  • Apply lifespan growth and development principles, assess information reflecting patient status, and interpret it to identify age-specific care needs.
  • Coordinate care and delegate appropriately for a defined group of patients.
  • Document patient care consistently and skillfully in accordance with required and regulatory standards, including patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate nursing skills and use patient care and unit equipment as defined by unit- or department-specific required skills.
  • Prioritize patient care continuously in accordance with evidence-based standards of care.
  • Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  • Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members according to patient needs and team members’ capabilities and qualifications.
  • Communicate relevant information about patient condition or unit concerns to other healthcare team members.
  • Provide compassionate care and a therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Remain aware of legal issues and patients’ rights.
  • Collaborate with the education department and nursing leadership team to transition and support new team members and/or students effectively.
  • Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Comply with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills and support continuous improvement in healthcare practice quality and organizational outcomes.
  • Participate in, and potentially lead, unit-level and/or organizational nursing-practice and performance-improvement committees.
  • Participate in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching related to professional practice or role performance.
  • Use supplies efficiently and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Attend staff-development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings.
  • Partner with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional development and continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging.
