Requirements
  • Be a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Hold a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Nursing, with a written academic plan to earn a master's degree and continued progress toward the degree each semester if the master's degree is not already held.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that support student learning and align with college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials aligned with course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Manage a classroom environment conducive to student learning and compliant with federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.
  • Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.
  • Use the Learning Management System, such as Canvas, to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Provide academic coaching and monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, use academic advising alerts, provide interventions, communicate with students, arrange tutoring and academic supports, and refer students to appropriate college resources.
  • Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy.
  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful program completion through phone, technology tools, and other electronic outreach.
  • Participate in professional development, including scheduled training, time onsite in related businesses and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills and current knowledge in the field.
  • Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline or focus to fulfill annual performance plans and certification and licensure requirements.
  • Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that supports student learning.
  • Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance relationships within its service area.
  • Develop community, industry, and business contacts to advance college relationships within the service area.
  • Provide institutional support requested by college administration, including committees, task forces, accreditation projects, and grant-related projects.
  • Support and engage with Corporate College and Development and Ivy Tech Foundations.
  • Attend commencement and participate as assigned by regional administration.
  • Participate in college-wide, campus-wide, departmental, division, and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in career service and alumni activities.
  • Support the program or department chair in program management activities.
  • Adhere to college and regional academic policies.
  • Review and analyze program data related to completion and retention.
  • Determine and lead action steps that positively impact retention.
  • Support development of student internships and other real-work experiences supporting curriculum and experiential learning.
  • Assure quality of discipline-specific dual credit courses within local high schools.
  • Create course schedules conducive to student learning and student access.
  • Conduct all responsibilities within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

  • A master's degree in Nursing is preferred.
