People on the move: Dr. Shekhar Thumake joins Ephicacy as Head of AI.

People on the move: Dr. Shekhar Thumake joins Ephicacy as Head of AI. Ephicacy, headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey has appointed Dr. Shekhar Thumake as Head of AI, a newly created leadership position reflecting the biometrics CRO's increased focus on artificial intelligence within its clinical data operations. About Dr. Shekhar Thumake. In the role, Thumake will direct Ephicacy's enterprise AI strategy and the development of agentic AI capabilities designed to improve clinical data workflows, working with clients and delivery teams to identify high-value AI applications while building in interoperability, quality, governance, and regulatory requirements from the ground up. Ephicacy CEO Tara Gladwell said Thumake brings "a rare combination of clinical grounding and technical expertise," adding that "every advance in how we manage and analyze clinical data ultimately serves patients waiting on new therapies." Thumake joins Ephicacy from Axtria, where he spent just over three years as Director-AI and Data, leading the creation of AI and generative AI solutions for clinical operations. There, he built a portfolio of production AI tools, including an agentic platform for digitizing clinical trial protocols to CDISC's Unified Study Definitions Model (USDM) standard, an LLM-powered patient screening tool that reads unstructured EHR notes against protocol eligibility criteria, agent-based patient identification models for rare disease field teams, and generative AI tools for drafting Clinical Study Reports and EDC database designs. Before Axtria, Thumake spent more than nine years at Cytel, rising from Principal Clinical Data Manager to Director of Clinical Data Management, where he held P&L accountability for major accounts and led global data management teams. His earlier career included clinical data management and technical leadership roles at Sciformix, PharmaNet/i3, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, and Cognizant Technology Solutions, building deep expertise in EDC platforms, CDASH data standards, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. Axtria to build industry's largest pharma-specific AI engineering team, scaling to 1,000 by December 2026.

Axtria to build industry's largest pharma-specific AI engineering team, scaling to 1,000 by December 2026. August 13, 2026 By PR Newswire NEW DELHI, Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Axtria Inc., a global leader in AI-first data analytics solutions for the life sciences industry, today announced plans to expand its Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) organization to 1,000 engineers by December 2026, creating the industry's largest pharma-specific AI engineering team. The expansion represents one of Axtria's largest investments in AI talent development to date and reflects growing customer demand for engineers who can deploy, scale, and operationalize enterprise AI across commercial, medical, and market access functions. Launched approximately 12 months ago, Axtria's Forward Deployed Engineering model was built on a simple premise: the future of AI in life sciences will be determined not by who has access to the best models, but by who can successfully deploy AI into complex enterprise environments and deliver measurable business outcomes. Today, Axtria's FDEs are embedded within leading life sciences organizations, deploying production-grade AI solutions across commercial and medical operations. Building on this momentum, Axtria is expanding the organization to 1,000 engineers by December 2026 through a combination of internal talent development and strategic hiring. While life sciences organizations have invested heavily in modern data platforms and generative AI, many continue to face a shortage of specialized talent capable of deploying AI at enterprise scale. Technology providers often bring strong AI engineering capabilities but lack deep life sciences expertise, while in-house pharma teams understand the business but cannot always keep pace with the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem. Axtria's Forward Deployed Engineering model bridges this gap by combining both disciplines into a single engineering organization that helps clients move from AI experimentation to enterprise-scale deployment. Axtria's Forward Deployed Engineers are trained and certified across leading AI and cloud platforms, including Anthropic, AWS, Databricks, LangChain, Microsoft, and Snowflake. Through the Axtria Institute, the company is developing life sciences domain experts into certified AI engineers who deploy solutions across Industry leading platforms and Axtria's proprietary platforms - including SalesIQ(TM), MarketingIQ(TM) and DataMAx(TM), helping clients modernize data foundations, improve decision-making, and scale enterprise AI with strong governance and cost efficiency. "The industry is moving beyond AI experimentation to enterprise-wide deployment, and success now depends on execution," said Navi Chadha, CTO and Co-founder, Axtria. "Our Forward Deployed Engineers combine deep life sciences expertise with world-class AI engineering capabilities to help clients operationalize AI at scale. This expansion reflects both the demand we're seeing from customers and our commitment to building the talent needed to power the next generation of AI-enabled life sciences organizations." "The most important investment we're making is in people," said Manish Mittal, Managing Principal and Country Head, Axtria. "Through the Axtria Institute, Thailand Business Directory is enabling its own life sciences experts to become certified AI engineers while also attracting exceptional engineering talent from the market. This creates unique career opportunities and ensures its clients have access to specialists who understand both the science of AI and the realities of life sciences. About Axtria Axtria helps life sciences companies harness the potential of data science and software to improve patient outcomes by connecting the right therapies to the right patients at the right time. A leading global provider of award-winning cloud software and data analytics, Axtria delivers proven solutions that help pharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostics companies complete their journey from data to insights to action. Axtria Ignite 2026: 450+ life sciences leaders convene with a contrarian message - fix the foundation before you scale AI. 25/06/2026 * More than 450 executives from 100+ leading life sciences organizations gathered in Princeton, NJ to move agentic AI past the proof-of-concept stage * Founder and CEO Jaswinder "Jassi" Chadha challenged the industry with a counterintuitive mandate: before you build more agents, fix the foundation first * The Ignite Leadership Awards honored transformation leaders from Bristol Myers Squibb, GSK, and Biogen; the Axtria Bedrock Honor recognized a 15-year partnership with Quest Diagnostics BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J., June 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Axtria Inc., a global leader in AI-first data & analytics solutions and platforms for the life sciences industry, hosted Axtria Ignite 2026 on June 10 and 11 at the Princeton Marriott at Forrestal under the theme "Industrializing Intelligence: The Agentic Enterprise." More than 450 executives from over 100 leading life sciences, MedTech, and biotech organizations gathered to work through the harder question of 2026: what must be true before an enterprise can trust AI to run at machine speed. Day 1 of the by-invitation-only event drew more than 200 attendees to product workshops on practical applications of AI, analytics, and commercial excellence. It included real-world success stories and value delivered from agents and hands-on experience with live agents. Day 2 featured four mainstage sessions and 16 panels across four tracks: industrialized data and the agentic backbone, agentic AI for business insights, high-performance customer engagement, and the shift from software to agentic ecosystems. Now in its fourth year, Axtria Ignite has become a regular fixture on the calendars of senior commercial and data leaders in life sciences. The foundation is the strategy In his keynote address, Axtria founder and CEO Jaswinder "Jassi" Chadha argued that the foundation determines whether AI in pharma scales. Drawing on three decades in the industry, he pointed to the persistent gap between ambition and execution: roughly 73% of biopharma still reports significant data issues, as many as 89% of AI pilots never reach production, and trust in AI systems has slipped from 61% in 2019 to 53% today, even as the industry races toward a projected 100,000-plus AI agents. Against a pharma accuracy bar of 99.5%, Chadha laid out four things the foundation must carry: an AI-ready data supply chain, a semantic layer for agent accuracy, software guardrails for deterministic precision where stakes are highest, and a governance framework for digital workers at scale. Agents, in his framing, are new hires who must earn trust through validation and audit, not receive it on day one. "Before you build the agent, fix the foundation first. The companies that will lead the agentic era are not the ones who moved fastest; they are the ones who built them with trust," Jaswinder "Jassi" Chadha, Founder and CEO, Axtria. Proving CFO-certifiable business value Co-founder and CTO Navdeep "Navi" Chadha led a mainstage session with senior leaders from Thermo Fisher Scientific and Quest Diagnostics. The discussion moved past future potential to candid accounts of what has worked and what has not, from CFO-certifiable value reporting and integrated risk management to the discipline of defining exit criteria before a proof of concept begins. A recurring lesson surfaced across panelists: change management is the work, not a footnote. "Change management and adoption cannot be the 45th slide in a 30-page deck at the business case approval," Senior Digital Leader, speaking on a mainstage panel. The conversations attendees took home Across tracks, the discussions reached a level of candor that does not show up in industry research reports. A senior leader at a major pharma company described her team's unlock: making clear that AI was here to elevate marketers rather than replace them. By her account, adoption now stands at over 90%. "This is not an AI revolution. It's a people revolution," VP of Commercial AI at a top pharma company, closing mainstage session. Ignite Leadership Awards Axtria presented its annual Ignite Leadership Awards, recognizing leaders doing the hard work of transformation inside their organizations. These leaders were recognized for driving enterprise-wide AI transformations and genuinely bringing multiple disciplines together to truly make a difference to the foundation of AI to realize the true value. The 2026 honorees were: * Anvita Karara, Vice President, Commercialization AI Strategy & Analytics, Bristol Myers Squibb * Jeremy Pincus, Vice President, Medical Affairs IT, GSK * Bharti Rai, Senior Vice President, Biogen Axtria Bedrock Honor The Axtria Bedrock Honor recognized Quest Diagnostics for a 15-year partnership and the recent implementation of an Axtria SalesIQ(TM) sales force alignment solution across 34 role types and a ~1,300-person field organization, among the most complex sales force alignments in healthcare. The honor was accepted by John Liffert, Vice President, Commercial Operations, alongside Samantha Barnes-Weaver, Director, National Deployment and Alignments, and Marc Cangemi, Senior Director, Commercial Excellence, Compensation, and Deployment. "Those of you who know the Quest business know it's probably the most complex sales force alignment in healthcare. Because we were able to solve that, you made us better. You made our product better. Thank you for being our partners in this journey," Jassi Chadha, Founder and CEO, Axtria. About the event Ignite 2026 featured 45+ speakers across panels and presentations, plus hands-on workshops with Axtria's agentic products, including Axtria HIQ, Axtria SalesIQ(TM), Axtria MarketingIQ(TM), and Axtria DataMAx(TM). The agenda also included an Executive Incentive Compensation Roundtable and networking receptions on both evenings. At Axtria Ignite 2026, trust emerges as the missing layer in enterprise AI.

At Axtria Ignite 2026, trust emerges as the missing layer in enterprise AI. With discussions led by Axtria's CEO, Jaswinder Chadha, the focus was on building a strong foundation for AI deployment, emphasising data quality, governance, and organisational readiness. Smruthi Nadig · JUNE 25, 2026, 4:12 AM · Updated JUNE 25, 2026, 5:26 AM AI-first data and analytics company Axtria brought together more than 450 executives from over 100 life sciences, MedTech and biotech organisations at its annual Axtria Ignite 2026 conference, where discussions centred on a pressing industry challenge: what enterprises need to trust AI systems operating at scale. Held on 10 and 11 June at the Princeton Marriott at Forrestal in New Jersey, under the theme "Industrialising Intelligence: The Agentic Enterprise," the invitation-only event featured product workshops, customer case studies, keynote addresses and panel discussions focused on the practical adoption of agentic AI across the life sciences sector. Opening the conference, Axtria Founder and CEO Jaswinder Chadha argued that successful AI deployment depends less on sophisticated models and more on the quality of enterprise foundations. Citing industry data, he noted that around 73% of biopharma companies continue to face significant data quality issues, while as many as 89% of AI pilots fail to reach production. Trust in AI systems has also declined from 61% in 2019 to 53% today, even as organisations prepare for a future involving more than 100,000 AI agents. Against the pharmaceutical industry's accuracy benchmark of 99.5%, Chadha outlined four essential building blocks for scalable AI: an AI-ready data supply chain, a semantic layer to improve agent accuracy, software guardrails to ensure deterministic precision, and governance frameworks for managing digital workers. "Before you build the agent, fix the foundation first. The companies that will lead the agentic era are not the ones who moved fastest; they are the ones who built them with trust," said Chadha. The conference also focused on demonstrating measurable business outcomes from AI deployments. During a mainstage session, Axtria Co-founder and CTO Navdeep Chadha joined executives from Thermo Fisher Scientific and Quest Diagnostics to discuss lessons from production AI deployments, including value measurement, risk management and change management. Discussions across the event repeatedly highlighted that successful AI adoption depends as much on organisational readiness as technology. In one session, a senior pharmaceutical executive shared that clearly positioning AI as a tool to augment rather than replace marketers helped drive adoption rates above 90%. Closing the event, Anvita Karara, Vice President of Commercialisation AI Strategy & Analytics at Bristol Myers Squibb, said, "This is not an AI revolution. It's a people revolution." Axtria also presented its annual Ignite Leadership Awards to leaders from Bristol Myers Squibb, GSK and Biogen for driving enterprise-wide AI transformation initiatives. The company additionally honoured Quest Diagnostics with its Axtria Bedrock Honour, recognising a 15-year partnership and the deployment of Axtria SalesIQ across approximately 1,300 field personnel spanning 34 sales roles.
