Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or people management responsibilities, is required.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and/or Not-for-Profit Entities Canadian Accounting Standards, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks is required.
  • Proven experience managing month-end close processes and financial reporting cycles is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with enterprise resource planning systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Maximo, Dayforce, or equivalent are required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders are required.
  • High attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, and financial integrity are required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee and review bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, petty cash, and inventory reconciliations; analyze, resolve, and document discrepancies; and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver financial analysis and variance explanations to executive leadership and operational teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the accounting team while ensuring performance expectations are met and priorities are effectively managed.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Coordinate external audit activities and serve as the primary finance contact for external auditors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is considered an asset.
  • Manufacturing industry experience is considered an asset.
