Requirements
  • Completed vocational training as an insurance clerk with further training as an insurance specialist or business administrator, or university studies.
  • Several years of underwriting experience in commercial casualty insurance.
  • Experience developing insurance terms, concepts, and wordings.
  • Experience and confidence negotiating with brokers and intermediaries.
  • Strong understanding of processes between different distribution channels and the insurer.
  • Willingness to support sales activities and travel throughout Germany.
  • Very good Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Own the technical responsibility for commercial casualty insurance as the central subject-matter contact within the Package Profit Center, including business direction, underwriting framework, acceptance and underwriting guidelines, product and tariff development, wording development, and tariff calculations.
  • Provide technical leadership to employees in commercial casualty insurance within the Underwriting and Operations units.
  • Ensure consistent application and continuous development of the underwriting framework, processes, and acceptance and underwriting guidelines.
  • Set the strategic direction and further develop the commercial casualty insurance business across existing distribution channels.
  • Perform desk underwriting of commercial casualty risks within the acceptance and underwriting guidelines.
  • Provide technical oversight and development of special concepts, including reviewing wordings and calculations for defined target segments.
  • Manage and monitor the casualty portfolio with Actuarial and Business Analytics, including developing performance and management metrics and deriving portfolio-optimization measures.
  • Conduct loss controlling in close cooperation with Claims Management, Actuarial, and other internal departments.
  • Actively develop the market and identify and develop new business opportunities through cross-line collaboration within the Package Profit Center.
  • Create technical specifications for IT requirements management and support implementation, including technical testing and acceptance.
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional projects to develop the business area.
  • Support Sales and design, prepare, and deliver product training and sales-focused technical training.

AIG closes $1.3B dual-tranche euro senior note offering with 2031 and 2036 maturities

American International Group has completed a €1.125 billion euro-denominated senior note offering in two tranches. The company issued €625 million in 4.250% notes due 2031 and €500 million in 4.750% notes due 2036, both closing on 24 September 2026. The underwriting agreement, executed on 15 September, included Deutsche Bank AG London Branch, J.P. Morgan Securities, BNP Paribas, and Citigroup Global Markets as lead underwriters. The Bank of New York Mellon serves as trustee for both tranches. Sullivan & Cromwell provided a legal opinion confirming the validity of the notes. AIG filed the details with the SEC in a Form 8-K on 24 September.

Big Short' investor Steve Eisman backs AIG as analyst calls insurer 'really, really cheap

Steve Eisman, the investor known from "The Big Short", has disclosed that he owns shares in American International Group.
