Requirements
  • Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
  • Must possess a current or temporary Nuclear Medicine license as required by the state board where services will be provided.
  • Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Nuclear Medicine Technology Board as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within six months of hire.
  • Must obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • Must complete state and federal criminal background checks, as required for regulated areas.
  • Must differentiate various shades of gray and color as depicted on a monitor or photograph.
  • Must stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of weight.
  • Must carry items of up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
  • Must be able to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the health care team.
  • Must be able to improvise with altered positioning techniques, equipment manipulation, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised by a patient's condition, age, or ability.
  • Must maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging to optimize procedures and ensure patient care and safety.
  • Must complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation where applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis or treatment of patients.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and activities to support progress improvement and team building.
  • Participate in planning and implementing change while maintaining and improving high-quality, cost-effective department operations.
  • Plan and perform imaging procedures to produce medical images for the diagnosis or treatment of patients according to department quality standards, professional literature, and department protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff in accordance with Radiation Safety Department policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as applicable state, federal, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Report equipment failures immediately upon identification using the identified communication mechanism to ensure the performance of radiology services.
  • Assess patients' needs related to comfort, hygiene, and range of motion and provide support accordingly.
  • Perform as a clinical and/or didactic instructor according to the quality standards and protocols, policies, and procedures of the radiology education program.
