Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • 14 years of professional experience in facilities design or capital project coordination
  • 4 years of experience in educational facilities design or similar public agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects with emphasis on seismic critical repair and retrofit projects
  • Supervise a team of design professionals and other professionals through the design review process
  • Develop and coordinate the District’s design process for A&E services
  • Interact with Architects, consultants, and District personnel to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Oversee building design process to ensure compliance with client’s standards and guidelines
  • Identify and select architectural firms best suited for each project
  • Provide clear and consistent direction to Architects regarding goals, objectives, standards, sites, schedules, and budgets
  • Establish and follow an effective and efficient design review process
  • Review design changes to ensure projects remain within budget
  • Monitor project planning and design status to report findings, recommendations, and updates
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
