Oracle's 8% bond yields signal company-specific financing issues, not broader AI problems

Oracle invoked "force majeure" to delay payment on its Project Jupiter data centre campus, causing its bonds to trade at yields above 8%. The company maintains its 2.45-gigawatt New Mexico data centre will be completed on time and that its financial challenges don't reflect the broader AI industry. Other tech giants like Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta Platforms continue their AI build-outs without financing issues. Microsoft stated its fiscal 2027 AI capital expenditures will be entirely supported by free cash flow. Oracle produced $4.7 billion in net income last quarter, representing over 60% year-over-year growth. Interest expenses increased to 8% of revenue from 6% the previous year. Analysts suggest Oracle's financing challenges shouldn't worry AI investors, as other companies will fill any gaps if Oracle slows down.

Oracle shares fall 8% as data center power delays threaten $664B AI backlog

Oracle shares dropped 8.3% this week after the company issued a force majeure notice on its Project Jupiter data centre in New Mexico, citing potential power delays. The stock traded near $138, down 57% from its 52-week high of $323. Shares recovered somewhat on Tuesday following reports that OpenAI, a major Oracle cloud customer, reached nearly $70 billion in annualised recurring revenue. Oracle's fundamentals remain solid, with Q1 fiscal 2027 revenue up 30% to $19.3 billion and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure revenue jumping 121% to $7.4 billion. The company now trades at a forward P/E of 15.6x, below its five-year average of 21.5x. Oracle has booked over $30 billion in new AI cloud contracts, bringing remaining performance obligations to $664 billion. However, the AI infrastructure build-out has pushed net debt to approximately $132 billion.

NetApp and Oracle launch fully managed cloud storage service for AI and enterprise workloads

NetApp and Oracle announced plans to launch a fully managed cloud storage service bringing enterprise-grade NetApp storage natively to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure NetApp Storage Service will deliver NetApp ONTAP data management capabilities to help organisations migrate and manage critical AI and enterprise workloads in the cloud. The service will be managed through the OCI Console and SDKs, ONTAP APIs, and familiar operational workflows. It is designed to enable customers to move existing ONTAP-based workloads to the cloud whilst minimising application redesign and storage management changes. The partnership aims to combine OCI's scale and performance with NetApp's enterprise data capabilities, particularly benefiting regulated industries by simplifying the process of moving and protecting critical applications on OCI.

Shares fell approximately 2.4% on Monday morning following the announcement last week. The product represents an opportunity in cancer treatment management, though Oracle has yet to demonstrate which hospitals will adopt the system, when planned features will be available, or how much time clinicians will save. At $133.77 per share, the stock trades 30.74% below its calculated value of $193.13.

SWIFT integrates Oracle blockchain tools with Quant connection, but XRP not part of ledger

Oracle has integrated its Blockchain Platform, Digital Assets Data Nexus, and Banking Payments with SWIFT's blockchain shared ledger, enabling banks to initiate tokenised deposit transfers and settle them in real time. The integration follows Oracle receiving SWIFT Compatible Application certification for payments earlier in 2026. Quant's Overledger functions as an interoperability layer connecting bank systems to blockchains, including Oracle's infrastructure. The Oracle-Quant relationship was announced in March 2025. Overledger allows banks to interact with multiple networks through a single API without building custom integrations. XRP is not part of SWIFT's blockchain ledger architecture. Its connection to SWIFT runs through a separate Thunes integration, where XRP functions as an optional liquidity tool rather than a settlement asset inside the shared ledger itself.
