About the job

Requirements
  • Expertise in test automation frameworks including pytest, Playwright, Selenium, and API testing or similar.
  • Experience architecting and maintaining test automation frameworks and tooling used across a wider engineering organisation.
  • Deep knowledge of testing across microservice or distributed systems, including API-level automation, CI/CD integration, and service-level testing strategies.
  • Experience leading innovation and proofs of concept in testing, particularly AI-led regression optimisation and change-risk analysis.
  • Experience with contract testing or consumer/provider verification, such as Pact or OpenAPI schema validation.
  • AWS infrastructure experience, including Lambda, GitHub Actions self-hosted runners, and deployment tooling.
Responsibilities
  • Design the frameworks and practices that enable engineering teams to test well themselves and scale quality engineering for the future.
  • Lead and develop scripts that equip engineering teams with automation and standards to own quality themselves.
  • Own the quality engineering approach as the organisation scales by setting standards, building tooling, and driving adoption across engineering.
  • Develop a risk-aware CI testing standard with a dependency model that drives test selection and breaking-change detection, enabling fast targeted runs and a clear confidence signal at the point of change.
  • Establish unit, integration, and contract testing standards with an observability layer to keep pipelines reliable, proven through reference test suites in service repositories.
  • Work with the wider Platform team to define automated pass/fail analysis against production traffic for canary releases, enabling deployments to promote or roll back without manual sign-off.
  • Advance use of AI in the quality pipeline, including LLM-based change-risk classification, targeted mutation testing, test generation, and self-healing checks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Progressive deployment experience, including canary releases, feature flags, and automated rollback from production signals.

What believers are saying

  • Tem closed a $75 million Series B on February 10, 2026, led by Lightspeed.
  • Tem expanded to Texas in August 2026 and is pursuing Australia next.
  • Customers say Tem cuts bills up to 30%, and Tem claims £40 million-plus savings.

What critics are saying

  • Texas REP certification still blocks U.S. revenue until approval lands, likely in 2026.
  • RED is the only utility using Rosso, so platform adoption remains single-channel dependent.
  • If generators or large buyers defect, Tem’s marketplace liquidity collapses and margins compress.

What makes tem unique

  • Tem’s Rosso automates electricity transactions with AI, replacing brokers and legacy desks.
  • RED bundles billing, usage, and pricing into one neo-utility for businesses.
  • Tem processed over 2TWh in 2025 across 6,000-plus UK sites, including Boohoo and Fever-Tree.

UK AI energy scaleup Tem raises $75M, expands renewable platform to Texas

Tem-Energy Inc., a UK-based AI-powered retail energy company, is expanding to Texas and seeking a retail electric provider certificate. The company recently raised $75 million in a Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Hitachi Ventures, Voyager Ventures, Schroders Capital, Allianz, AlbionVC, Atomico, and Revent. Tem connects non-residential customers directly with renewable energy generators through its RED platform, bypassing traditional wholesale markets. The company operates as an "energy transactions scaleup" and partners with licensed suppliers for compliance. Tem claims its model removes middlemen and hidden fees, resulting in prices 10 times lower than market price floors. The company uses half-hourly meter data for precise billing rather than monthly averages. It states that 30 per cent of business energy bills typically pay for inefficiency and fees rather than actual generation or transmission.

Tem appoints Claire Addison as Chief of Staff after $75M Series B funding

Tem has appointed Claire Addison as Chief of Staff following its $75 million Series B funding round led by Lightspeed. The electricity market technology company raised the oversubscribed round to support UK expansion and international growth, particularly in Texas. Addison joins from Flexitricity, where she spent seven years working on regulation, policy and market reform. She previously worked at AES Corporation on commercial battery storage systems. At Tem, she will lead relationships with governments and regulators whilst overseeing compliance and market entry strategy. Tem's Rosso platform aims to replace the existing electricity trading structure with direct pricing and contracting. The company has facilitated over 5TWh of energy transactions across more than 7,000 UK sites, returning over $50 million in transaction fees to customers including Boohoo Group and Newcastle United.

Tem raises $75 M to automate energy markets with AI-first platform

Tem raises $75 M to automate energy markets with ai-first platform. London-based energy software startup secures a major Series B to scale its AI-native transaction engine February 10, 2026 - 9:24 am London-based energy software company Tem has closed a $75 million Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with additional funding from AlbionVC, Atomico, Hitachi Ventures, Schroders Capital, Voyager Ventures, Allianz, and others. The round reportedly values the company at more than $300 million and will fund its expansion into the United States and Australia. Tem builds an AI-native energy platform designed to automate the pricing, matching, and execution of electricity transactions, a market that has long relied on manual processes and legacy infrastructure. Its core system uses machine learning to forecast supply and demand, match buyers with suppliers, and reduce the layers of intermediaries that typically add cost and complexity. According to Tem, more than 2,600 businesses in the UK are already on its platform, with customers reporting energy cost savings of up to 30 per cent compared with traditional procurement approaches. The startup also handled roughly two terawatt-hours of electricity transactions in 2025, a volume it says demonstrates growing demand for automated energy market infrastructure. Tem's approach is often described as bringing modern software-first tools to a sector still dominated by brokers, manual trading desks, and outdated systems. By replacing fragmented legacy workflows with a unified AI-driven engine, the company aims to make energy markets more efficient while giving businesses clearer price signals and lower transaction fees. With the new funding, Tem plans to accelerate its global footprint, beginning with key energy markets such as Texas in the United States and select regions in Australia, where grid modernisation and renewable integration are creating fresh demand for flexible energy trading tools.

Tem raises $75M to remake electricity markets using AI

Tem raises $75M to remake electricity markets using AI. As AI data centers drive up electricity prices, London-based startup Tem thinks AI might be able to help solve it, too. Tem has built an energy transaction engine that relies on AI to cut prices relative to other energy traders. The company has signed up more than 2,600 business customers throughout the U.K. on the promise that buying energy from its utility division can save them up to 30% on their energy bills. The startup recently closed an oversubscribed $75 million Series B led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from AlbionVC, Allianz, Atomico, Hitachi Ventures, Revent, Schroders Capital, and Voyager Ventures, TechCrunch has exclusively learned. The round values Tem at more than $300 million, a source familiar with the deal told TechCrunch. The startup plans to use the funding to help expand to Australia and the U.S., starting with Texas. "We're in a nice position where we kind of have control over our own profitability. So I could have chosen not to raise at all and had a lovely, nice bootstrap business in some ways," Joe McDonald, co-founder and CEO of Tem, told TechCrunch. "Well, we're not that kind of business. We know what we want to achieve as someone who wants to go public over the years." Tem is a classic marketplace play, matching electricity generators with consumers. The company intentionally started by focusing almost exclusively on renewable energy generators and small businesses to fill both sides of the ledger. "The more decentralized and the more distributed, the better it is for the algorithms," McDonald said. "But this works all the way up to enterprise." The company's customers include fast-fashion retailer Boohoo Group, soft drink company Fever-Tree, and Newcastle United FC.
