About the job

Requirements
  • Staff-level product engineer with deep, current hands-on ability who writes and reviews code daily.
  • Experience building LLM-powered product features and production evaluation systems, including evaluation sets, metrics, and integration with continuous integration, monitoring, or release gating.
  • Ability to own full-stack features end-to-end.
  • Experience leading a team's day-to-day work as a tech lead, project lead, or de facto anchor, including keeping the team focused and giving feedback that helped people grow.
  • Ability to partner with product management and go-to-market teams to shape solutions and push back on scope and sequencing.
  • Ability to instrument pipelines, trace model calls, and build feedback loops that surface problems before users do.
  • Comfort working across disciplines and learning healthcare, life sciences, and data systems domains.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with high ownership and autonomy.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across teams and with customers.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and deploy agentic artificial intelligence systems that power web experiences and automate clinical workflows.
  • Own the full production evaluation lifecycle by defining quality criteria, building evaluation datasets, authoring metrics, and integrating evaluations into continuous integration, monitoring, or release gating.
  • Instrument artificial intelligence systems for observability by tracing large language model calls, monitoring output quality, detecting regressions, and building tooling for visibility into production behavior.
  • Architect and optimize full-stack applications, including frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data pipelines.
  • Partner closely with product, founders, and customers to shape solutions and challenge scope and sequencing rather than simply executing specifications.
  • Help establish engineering processes, architecture, and best practices.
  • Participate in customer conversations to understand workflows and improve the product.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at a small startup, such as a seed- or Series A-stage company, with small teams and high ambiguity.
  • Experience serving as the senior person on a junior team and raising its technical bar.
  • Genuine interest in biology or life sciences.
  • Experience with machine learning evaluation frameworks or large language model observability tooling, such as LangSmith, Braintrust, Weights & Biases, or Honeyhive.
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts for model evaluation, including confidence intervals, human-in-the-loop review, and A/B testing.
  • Experience building agentic workflows or multi-step artificial intelligence pipelines.

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 funding reportedly reached $7.0 million, extending runway for hiring.
  • The company claims 400-plus clinical research sites are already using the platform.
  • Clinical operations are shifting toward agentic AI, matching Double Blind Bio's product direction.

What critics are saying

  • Florence Healthcare already serves 65,000 sites and 600 sponsors, crushing distribution.
  • Veeva eSource ships in late 2026, squeezing study-startup and data-workflow budgets.
  • Double Blind Bio still looks early-stage; a misfire on usage kills product-market fit.

What makes Double Blind Bio unique
