Requirements
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar scientific or technical field.
  • Three to five years of experience in a similar engineering role.
  • Three to five years of experience with one or more industrial control platforms, including Allen Bradley PLC5, SLC500, MicroLogix, ControlLogix, Siemens S7, PCS7, Emerson DeltaV, Ovation, Provox, Novatech D/3, Honeywell Experion, or Foxboro I/A.
  • Experience configuring Human-Machine Interface and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems using platforms such as Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation, Inductive Automation, Wonderware, Siemens, iFix, or Iconics.
  • Experience with historian or data analytics platforms such as OSIsoft PI, PTC Thingworx, Inductive Automation Ignition, Aspentech, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or Wonderware.
  • Experience applying instrumentation, control valves, motors, variable-frequency drives, and coordinated drive systems.
  • Current working knowledge of the National Electric Code and the ability to locate solutions to code questions.
  • Experience in electrical design of electrical panels, input/output systems, motor, variable-frequency drive, motion, and robotic controls, and Ethernet-based networks.
  • Field experience troubleshooting electrical controls problems in an industrial environment.
  • Industry experience in Food and Beverage, Chemical, Pharma, Semiconductor, Water and Wastewater, Refining, Pulp and Paper, Oil and Gas Pipeline, Power Generation, Electrical Transmission and Distribution, Material Handling, or Packaging.
Responsibilities
  • Develop control specification and control-narrative documentation based on user requirements.
  • Participate in initial feasibility studies for proposed projects, resulting in a feasibility-level cost estimate and supporting project documentation.
  • Mark up Process and Instrumentation Diagrams for instrumentation and controls-related changes and review drawings from the drafting team.
  • Design low-voltage electrical controls drawings up to 480 volts, panel drawings, loop sheets, input/output drawings, and network drawings, and review drawings from the drafting team.
  • Develop Distributed Control System and Programmable Logic Controller programs or oversee program development performed by others.
  • Develop Human-Machine Interface systems and configure Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Configure historians.
  • Execute testing plans for Distributed Control System and Programmable Logic Controller programs to test all aspects of new programs or program changes.
  • Simulate Distributed Control System and Programmable Logic Controller programs and test the system using the testing plan.
  • Oversee electrical controls construction at the client site, verify that the system is installed as designed, and provide technical support to the construction effort.
  • Perform input/output checkout on the installed control system and document the checkout results.
  • Provide post-commissioning support to the client's operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel.
  • Travel to the client's site as required.
