Requirements
  • Demonstrated professional and/or teaching experience in Construction Trades.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience with distance delivery.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational work experience; North Slope Borough institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Ilisagvik College’s mission.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman status with five years of recent related professional experience or equivalent qualifications.
  • One year of related professional industry or post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Certified NCCER Instructor or ability to become a certified NCCER Instructor within 90 days.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance as required.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to meet the specified vision requirements.
  • Ability to work indoors in a usually moderate noise environment.
Responsibilities
  • Teach one or more courses within the Construction Trades Technology division, up to 7.5 credits per semester.
  • Prepare and maintain updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum.
  • Develop and submit a current syllabus using the college template.
  • Prepare administrative documents, such as student withdrawals and attendance records.
  • Evaluate student performance and submit grades to the registrar.
  • Maintain office hours in person, by telephone, or online.
  • Participate in professional development as necessary to remain proficient in the college’s current technologies and learning platform.
  • Comply with College policies, procedures, administrative directives, and applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Journeyman status with five years of recent related professional experience or equivalent qualifications or NCCER Instructor qualification in Plumbing and Electrical.
