About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience building user-facing software, with deep expertise in frontend architecture and performance.
  • Have led and owned the outcome of transforming a large, long-lived React application, focusing on performance, product impact, and developer experience.
  • Have a strong command of React and TypeScript, production experience with GraphQL, and experience with a modern state management approach such as Redux or Zustand, including when each is appropriate.
  • Have performance engineering skills to instrument an application, interpret frontend and backend traces, identify precisely where time is spent, and demonstrate improvements with metrics.
  • Have solid client-side caching fundamentals, including normalization, invalidation, and failure modes at scale.
  • Have hands-on experience with bundlers and build tooling, and a clear understanding of code-splitting and delivery tradeoffs.
  • Have sufficient backend depth to design systems at a high level, propose a new API architecture for a faster client, and reason about its frontend implications.
  • Have a track record of validating ideas, coordinating across engineering teams, and sequencing work across organizational boundaries.
  • Maintain an operator mindset by measuring, shipping, following through, and staying close to production.
Responsibilities
  • Own the frontend architecture of the W&B application and be accountable for its performance, stability, and reliability.
  • Define how application pages compose data requests, determine which queries are needed before rendering and which may be added, and establish how these boundaries scale as the product grows.
  • Shape other teams’ designs, build consensus across organizational boundaries, and execute plans as needed to deliver them.
  • Own the architecture, performance, and stability of the W&B Models frontend, define the team’s technical direction, and manage cross-team requirements within the Models system.
  • Set performance targets and drive work to meet them, proving results with production data.
  • Decide the application’s delivery and rendering architecture, including how to deliver code efficiently.
  • Partner with backend and platform teams on API design, including moving work out of the client.
  • Propose and drive larger overhauls that incremental work cannot achieve.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience introducing automated enforcement, such as lint rules, continuous integration gates, or performance budgets, that broadly changed engineering behavior.
  • Background in data-dense or visualization-heavy applications where rendering cost and data volume are core constraints.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog Real User Monitoring and Application Performance Monitoring, or comparable tracing and session-replay stacks.
  • Working knowledge of Go or a similar backend language.
  • Exposure to machine learning, MLOps, or AI agent workflows, or genuine curiosity about the researchers and engineers who use these tools.
  • Experience with a highly configurable product where user and deployment settings cannot be exhaustively tested.

What believers are saying

  • Demand is compounding: August 2026 results showed CoreWeave quarterly revenue more than doubled to $2.58 billion.
  • Contracts support expansion: CoreWeave reported $104 billion of June 2026 backlog, subject to service delivery.
  • Eligible U.S. employees buy discounted equity: CoreWeave's purchase plan prices shares 15% below the lower opening or closing price.

What critics are saying

  • Customer losses threaten stability: three buyers supplied 72% of CoreWeave's Q2 2026 revenue.
  • Borrowing consumes revenue: CoreWeave's net interest expense reached $640 million in Q2 2026, reported in August 2026.
  • Afton technicians face urgent callouts: CoreWeave requires onsite emergency response within 60 minutes during scheduled on-call shifts.

What makes CoreWeave unique

  • Hardware access stays direct: CoreWeave runs Kubernetes on bare metal, without a virtualization layer.
  • Support skips nontechnical handoffs: CoreWeave says customers reach engineers cross-trained across its stack directly.
  • Top AI labs use CoreWeave: the company says nine of ten leading foundation model providers rely on its cloud.

Neocloud "death spiral" fears hit AI boom as CoreWeave's $32B debt and equity pile meets 16% rates

Shares in "neocloud" firms such as CoreWeave, Nebius and Iren have slumped as investors balk at heavy losses and high borrowing costs. Nvidia and Oracle shares are down 10% from their peak earlier this month. CoreWeave has raised $32bn in debt and equity to fund 51 data centres, yet reported revenue of just $4.6bn in the first six months of the year. Interest rates on some of its debt briefly hit 16% last week. HSBC analysts said its return on investment is 8.9%, well below borrowing costs, and judged it overvalued by 50%. Australia's Firmus has cancelled a £20bn IPO. Gartner analyst Will Sommer predicts 80% of neoclouds will cease independent operations by 2030, and that $3.5tn in AI infrastructure spending could be written off. Nvidia's chief executive, Jensen Huang, says the sector faces a "scarcity of capital", not weak demand.

Blackstone's $2.3 Billion CoreWeave Bet Sparked a Trillion-Dollar AI Lending Boom

In 2023, executives at Blackstone (NYSE:BX) asked CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) two questions: “What is a GPU?” and “Is AI real?” Three years later, the $2.3 billion financing Blackstone helped arrange has become the blueprint for a chip-backed lending market that could...

Goldman upgrades CoreWeave to Buy with $106 target despite 56% share slump

Goldman Sachs upgraded CoreWeave from Neutral to Buy on October 19, 2026, even as it cut its 12-month price target from $139 to $106. The new target implies a gain of about 73% from the October 16 close of $61.39. CoreWeave shares have lost nearly half their value since August, partly because yields on its 2031 and 2032 bonds climbed to around 15%. Analyst Gabriela Borges argues investors have overestimated the effect of future borrowing and underestimated the profit from new data center contracts. CoreWeave rents Nvidia chips to firms such as Meta and OpenAI. It had locked in about $104 billion in future revenue by the end of the second quarter, but posted a $626 million net loss that quarter. Ark Invest bought about $25.8 million of the stock in mid-October.

Neoclouds explained: GPU providers behind the AI boom face a $3.5T impairment risk

Neoclouds, specialist providers that rent out GPU capacity for AI training and inference, have gone from unknown startups to listed companies with contracts worth billions of dollars. CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN lead the listed group; Lambda, Crusoe and Fluidstack remain private. Their shares fell hard in October 2026. CoreWeave dropped 29%, leaving it valued at about $34 billion against a 2025 peak of about $90 billion; Nebius fell 27% and IREN 32%. CoreWeave's unsecured debt yielded about 15%. On October 14, 2026, Gartner predicted that more than 80% of neocloud providers will stop operating independently by 2030. It also warned that more than $3.5 trillion of AI infrastructure spending could face impairment. Demand remains strong. CoreWeave co-founder Brannin McBee said nearly all of its 2027 capacity is sold.

Blackstone's Gray says CoreWeave will "find a way through" financing strain on $51.6B debt

Blackstone president and chief operating officer Jon Gray says CoreWeave will "find a way through" its financing pressure. He told CNBC the neocloud company has a talented chief executive officer and a strong underlying business. CoreWeave's stock has fallen 14% over the past week, while bond yields and credit default swap spreads have risen. The company has roughly $51.6 billion in total debt, including about $35 billion in notes, bonds, and loans. Gray said demand for computing power is strong, with compute pricing up 50% for neoclouds that get through. Their legacy chips are worth more than expected, he added, and their data centres are leased below market. Blackstone reported third-quarter revenue of $3.22 billion, below the $3.28 billion analysts expected. Adjusted earnings of $1.32 per share beat the $1.26 estimate.
