Requirements
  • An associate’s degree in Law, Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant, or a similar field is required.
  • Two years of legal support experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or conducting legal research and/or developing court forms is required.
  • A paralegal certificate may substitute for the associate’s degree.
  • Graduation from an accredited law school may substitute for the education and experience requirements.
  • Knowledge of conducting legal research, court processes, and legal terminology is required.
  • Skill in using Westlaw and other available databases to conduct research, Microsoft Word and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Professional is required.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar software efficiently, analyze law and reach sound legal conclusions within a reasonable timeframe, simplify forms and informational materials, and prioritize, meet deadlines, and multitask is required.
Responsibilities
  • Research the law and draft new or revise existing court forms and easy-to-follow instructions for litigants in compliance with law and procedure.
  • Leverage legal technology software products as directed to provide access-to-justice solutions to the public.
  • Apply detailed formatting standards and edit legal documents using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Convert documents into fillable PDF files and apply fillable PDF logic as directed.
  • Provide individualized Forms Assistance and Reference Desk help to patrons on a scheduled and backup basis.
  • Research Arizona statutes and case law, court rules, and procedures.
  • Prepare materials for and conduct educational workshops on completing forms and court procedures.
  • Provide direct patron assistance and education.

  • Experience in business operations and identifying or establishing efficient solutions to complicated problems.
  • Experience effectively learning new or unfamiliar software to complete job tasks.
