- A school-leaving certificate such as Hauptschule, Realschule, or Fachabitur/Abitur is required.
- An interest in technology and understanding how machines and devices work is required.

- Apply theoretical knowledge from block instruction at Berufskolleg West in Essen in practical company work.
- Good grades in mathematics, physics, or technology are helpful for starting the apprenticeship.
