Software Engineer I

PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

• Lead the software development cycle for product launches:  Plan, monitor and control software requirements, design, architecture, and testing for internal and external customer deliverables. Coordinate communication, issues, and tasks between the software group and both customers and internal groups at Gentex.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Responsible for communication and escalation of key issues affecting cost, quality, timing, resources, technical tradeoffs, & etc.
• Meet key internal and customer milestone dates. Attend and support program meetings.
• Lead software project team meetings.
• Ensure customer and internal software requirements are documented, planned, implemented, and tested.
• Manage the completion of customer documentation for software deliverables.
• Create and maintain manufacturing and customer-specific NVM configuration settings.
• Manage suppliers of software and software tools.
• Participate in appropriate software and hardware technical reviews.
• Perform and manage the relevant tasks of our internal processes to meet SPICE.

POSITION DEMANDS:

• Preference is a four year degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Prefer at least 1 years of experience in a software environment.
• Skills in communication, project scheduling, and management of software desired.
• Exposure to a mature software development processes is desired.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

• This position reports to the Software Project Engineering Manager.
• Interactions with program management, electrical, and the project team.
• Also interacts with quality, purchasing, production, R&D, mechanical, customers, and suppliers.
