Requirements
  • A Master of Social Work degree is needed for designated programs or divisions.
  • Must obtain an LMSW permit within 90 days of hire and licensure within one year of employment for designated programs or divisions, or obtain Qualified Health Professional status within designated OASAS-regulated programs, or hold New York State LMSW licensure for designated programs or divisions.
  • New York State LCSW licensure is required.
  • Experience working with DHS CARES Software is required.
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary team practices is required.
  • Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including crisis management techniques, is required.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, implement, and modify clinical treatment interventions to meet the needs of individual participants is required.
  • Competency in written, interpersonal, verbal, and computational skills to present and document records in accordance with program standards is required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing substance abuse treatment programs is required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and mental health evaluations.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family counseling consistent with clients’ individual treatment plans and make referrals for appropriate levels of care.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client records in compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures.
  • Comply with 42 CFR confidentiality requirements and HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison to community agencies and organizations and foster professional linkages with community service providers and referral sources.
  • Design and facilitate specialized therapeutic groups based on client and program needs.
  • Facilitate in-service staff training addressing anticipated or identified areas of need.
  • Adhere to social work standards, ethical principles, agency policies, and procedures while maintaining professional relationships with other disciplines, clients, and community supports.
  • Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate didactic, process-experiential, and supportive group approaches.
