Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience is required.
  • NATABOC certification must be maintained through continuing education units.
  • Emergency Cardiac Care Certification is required.
  • Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination and OSHA-compliant training are required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • The ability to communicate by telephone and email is required.
  • Travel, regular physical exertion, exposure to weather, and heavy lifting of 75 pounds or more are required.
  • A valid unrestricted U.S. driver's license held for at least one year is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • An insurable or satisfactory driving record is required.
  • The employee must complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment and complete required safety training.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing a program for the care and prevention of athletic injuries.
  • Assist in administering the Sports Medicine Program.
  • Develop, train, and supervise work-study training room assistants.
  • Help supervise use of Athletic Training Room facilities.
  • Maintain current medical paperwork on assigned athletes.
  • Provide independent medical care and rehabilitation for student-athletes.
  • Provide medical coverage for home varsity athletic contests and practices and assigned away contests.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to develop conditioning, weight training, and nutrition programs for athletes.
  • Advise coaching staff of the daily medical status of injured players.
  • Determine, upon a physician's advice, an athlete's ability to return to participation at any level.
  • Promote the health and physical well-being of Athletic Program participants through first aid treatment, injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Assist Health Center personnel with orthopedic injuries.
  • Coordinate transportation or referrals to appropriate medical facilities for emergency and non-emergency care of intercollegiate student-athletes.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

  • A master's degree is preferred.
