Requirements
  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician credential such as LVMT, Certified Veterinary Technician, Licensed Veterinary Technician, or Registered Veterinary Technician is required.
  • Must obtain Tennessee veterinary technician licensure within 90 days of the start date.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Specialty veterinary experience in Surgery and Internal Medicine is required.
  • Broad understanding of veterinary medicine, including triage, disease processes, pharmacology, restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, anesthesia, laboratory equipment, and laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing hospital and patient needs.
  • Commitment to continued learning and professional development.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care across multiple specialty and hospital departments.
  • Support veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, procedures, and hospitalized patient care.
  • Adapt to the individual needs of patients and clinical teams while floating between departments.
  • Perform triage, patient restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, medication administration, anesthesia support, and patient monitoring.
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and communicate changes in patient condition to the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and follow established hospital protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and fellow team members.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with doctors, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and support teams to promote continuity of patient care.
  • Support different services and hospital priorities as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
