Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital within the past 5 years.
  • Previous Charge Registered Nurse or management experience.
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Completion of orientation and the initial competency assessment before independently assigning patients requiring applicable skills.
  • Completion and passage of all annual competencies.
  • A California registered nurse license.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification before completion of orientation and independent patient assignment for employees hired on or after January 1, 2025.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification for anyone hired after April 1, 2025.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the department director in planning, goal setting, department budget development, and coordination of supplies, equipment, staffing, and care or service delivery.
  • Supervise the department's daily operations.
  • Serve as a resource and role model to staff in resolving patient care, service delivery, safety, supplies, equipment, computer software, and customer concerns.
  • Ensure staff receive appropriate orientation and training and demonstrate competence for the care or service provided.
  • Coach staff, develop and evaluate staff performance, enforce policies and procedures, and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Support quality initiatives by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, collecting and analyzing quality and performance improvement data, assisting with future performance improvement targets and quality initiatives, and developing or revising department policies and procedures.
  • Support financial viability by monitoring expenses, revenue, utilization, and productivity in assigned cost centers and executing Lean concepts.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum.
  • Neonatal intensive care unit or Level II nursery experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within one year if currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
  • American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses Network Intermediate External Fetal Monitoring certification for renewal after initial completion of the Advanced External Fetal Monitoring class.
