Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree is required.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Applicants must comply with infection control protocols and properly use personal protective equipment.
  • Applicants must be able to stand or sit for extended periods, perform manual dexterity and fine motor tasks, lift and move patients or medical equipment, read medical charts and monitors, communicate effectively, perceive alarms and patient instructions, tolerate long shifts and stressful situations, and navigate clinical environments.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care focused on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions in accordance with MUSC policies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by protecting patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in the professional practice model, shared governance, peer review, professional development, and activities promoting leadership and clinical excellence.
  • Apply effective team skills, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and take personal responsibility for professional growth.
