Barbie and The Australian Ballet celebrate 25 years of Barbie in the Nutcracker. 8 July 2026 If Barbie in the Nutcracker was part of your childhood, prepare for a very specific kind of nostalgia. Mattel and The Australian Ballet have announced a new partnership celebrating the 25th anniversary of Barbie in the Nutcracker, the 2001 film that launched Barbie's animated legacy and gave countless children one of their first encounters with ballet, Clara, the Sugarplum Princess and the Land of Sweets. The partnership brings together Barbie, The Australian Ballet and The Nutcracker at a moment when the much-loved story is returning across film, toys and the stage. An all-new animated Barbie in the Nutcracker special is set to premiere on Netflix this September, reimagining the classic tale for a new generation. In the 45-minute special, Barbie "Brooklyn" Roberts appears as the Sugarplum Princess, while Barbie "Malibu" Roberts takes on the role of Clara, travelling through a dreamworld of music, friendship and festive magic. For many dancers and dance lovers who grew up in the early 2000s, Barbie in the Nutcracker was more than a favourite film. It was an entry point into ballet itself, with its pointe shoes, tutus, Tchaikovsky-inspired fantasy and very serious living-room choreography. The Australian Ballet's Artistic Director, David Hallberg, acknowledged that connection in announcing the partnership. "For many people, Barbie in the Nutcracker was their first introduction to our magical world of ballet," Hallberg said. "As we prepare to bring our production of The Nutcracker to stages in Melbourne and Sydney, we're delighted to partner with Mattel to celebrate the enduring connection between Barbie and ballet. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate ballet, while reconnecting parents with a story that first sparked their own imagination and love of dance." Mattel's Paul Faulkner, SVP and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, said the partnership offered families a new way to connect with a story they already love. "Barbie has inspired generations through storytelling, imagination and play, and experiences like this give families new ways to connect with the stories they love," he said. "Partnering with The Australian Ballet brings the world of Barbie in the Nutcracker beyond the screen, creating meaningful shared experiences that celebrate one of Barbie's most enduring stories." The anniversary will also be marked with a new Barbie Nutcracker doll collection, including Clara, a deluxe Clara with a transforming skirt, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Daisy, Land of Sweets ballerinas, Chelsea Snow Fairies, and a Land of Sweets horse and sled. The collection is designed to extend the story into play, with ballet-inspired details including tutus, wands, glass-slipper fantasy and candy-coloured accessories. Australian families will also be able to enter a Barbie Nutcracker competition by purchasing Mattel Barbie toy products from participating retailers from July 2026. Prizes include weekly double passes to see The Australian Ballet's The Nutcracker live in Melbourne or Sydney, digital gift cards, and a major prize package for four including tickets, a travel allowance and Barbie merchandise. The Australian Ballet will perform Sir Peter Wright's production of The Nutcracker at Arts Centre Melbourne from 24 to 31 October 2026, before travelling to the Sydney Opera House from 28 November to 16 December 2026.
Proton and Sunway Tiny Toys turn the Saga and eMAS 5 into adorable scale models. Jun 25, 2026 2:43 pm Proton, in partnership with Sunway Tiny Toys, has launched two new 1:64-scale models of the Proton Saga and the Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5). Priced at RM78 each, the collectibles are available at the Sunway Tiny Toys outlet in Sunway Lagoon and through selected official resellers. This rollout follows Proton's previous collaboration with Mattel for the Hot Wheels Proton Saga. Produced in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 under the Cerita Malaysia Kita initiative, both replicas feature openable front doors and bonnets that reveal miniaturised interiors finished in the authentic production car paintjobs. The Proton Saga model comes in Ruby Red and Marine Blue, whilst the Proton eMAS 5 is available in Marble Cream and Quartz Rose. Open the bonnet on the Saga, however, and you will find a tiny replica of its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which in the real road-going car, produces an output of 120 hp and 150 Nm of torque. "The Proton Saga has long held a special place in the hearts of Malaysians, while the Proton eMAS 5 represents an exciting new direction for the brand and the country's mobility landscape," said Proton Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dato' Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa "By turning these vehicles into collectible scale models, we hope to create another way for Malaysians to connect with Proton. These are not just miniature cars; they represent the memories, ambitions and progress that have shaped our journey as a national automotive brand," he added. This release follows the company's recent milestone of exporting powertrain components from its engine plant in Tanjung Malim for Geely vehicles in Vietnam, Mexico, and South Africa.

Up first, they're speeding in with Hot Wheels KPop Demon Hunters Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), in which Derpy is trading demon hunting for horsepower. It will be available for $25. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Stranger Things, Hot Wheels is revisiting one of the show's most memorable early moments. The Hawkins Power & Light van comes packaged alongside miniature figures of Mike and Eleven, Dustin, and Lucas on their bikes, recreating the iconic season one escape scene. Fans can pick up the set for $40. Hot Wheels is also honoring the 40th anniversary of Top Gun with a collectible set recreating one of the film's most famous aerial fights. This one is available for $35. [UPDATE June 17] Girls just wanna be San Diego Comic-Con exclusives. Mattel is paying tribute to one of the most rockin' partnerships in wrestling history with its WWE Rock 'n Wrestling Connection 3-Pack, which celebrates the 1984 moment when "Rowdy" Roddy Piper(TM) interviewed pop star Cyndi Lauper(TM), Captain Lou Albano(TM) crashed the conversation, and chaos ensued. All three figures are featured in this SDCC exclusive set, which marks the first-ever Cyndi Lauper action figure and recreates the trio as 6.5" scale figures with more than 25 points of articulation and Mattel's TrueFX facial detailing. Lauper comes with an alternate head sculpt and two additional pairs of hands, while Piper also comes with two additional pairs of hands, and Albano gets one extra pair of hands. The set also includes soft good s clothing and gear. The entire set is packaged inside a premium box designed to resemble a vintage 1980s television, like it stepped straight from the era that inspired it. You can get it at their booth (procedures still TBA) for $80 during San Diego Comic-Con, with limited quantities also available through Mattel Creations online.
Mattel Studios readies Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia. Posted on 19th June 2026 By Billy Langsworthy Mattel Studios is launching Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia, a new 2D animated series targeting a 'new generation of young fans' to the brand. Launching on June 19th on the Mattel Adventures YouTube channel, the show is produced in partnership with animation studio Snipple Animation and spans 20 four-minute episodes. Cyndi Lauper will get her first official WWE action figure. Mattel Creations announces a WWE Elite pack exclusive for San Diego Comic-Con. The set will pay tribute to the Rock 'N' Wrestling era of the 1980s. Mattel Creations has just announced a new WWE Elite pack of three figures to pay tribute to the "Rock 'N' Wrestling" era of the 80s. This pack will consist of three action figures: Captain Lou Albano, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, and Cyndi Lauper, with this being the first WWE figure of the popular singer. The pack is set to be sold exclusively at the upcoming edition of San Diego Comic-Con. Lauper, one of the most popular singers of the 80s, had a prominent role in the first edition of WrestleMania, where she starred in a segment with Wendi Ritcher. The singer also worked with Lou Albano as part of the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection. Albano, on the other hand, appeared in Lauper's 1983 music video for "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." Lauper would return to WWE on an episode of Raw Supershow in June 2012, where she starred in a segment with Roddy Piper, Layla, Wendi Ritcher, and Heath Slater, with the latter taunting the singer. Lauper ended the segment by smashing a Gold Record, previously given by Piper, over Slater's head. The singer also had a recurring role in the series "Young Rock," based on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's youth on his way to becoming a WWE superstar. In this case, Becky Lynch was chosen to portray Lauper in several episodes of the series.
