Requirements
  • A Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree is required.
  • Board certification in family practice or internal medicine is required.
  • Credentialing through the Veterans Health Administration must be maintained in good standing.
  • A valid, unrestricted medical license is required in the state of employment or a qualifying U.S. state or territory, depending on contractual requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification are required according to the applicable contract.
  • Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration registration is required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Excellent computer skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to manage both up and down.
  • The candidate must be able to resolve colleague, client, and patient issues effectively and in a timely manner.
  • The candidate must demonstrate a strong service mentality and focus on defined service standards.
Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in and oversee the diagnosis and treatment of veterans.
  • Manage day-to-day medical operations and ensure high-quality clinical standards and exceptional customer service.
  • Achieve and maintain clinical outcomes through periodic chart reviews, direct observation, and adherence to Veterans Affairs guidelines.
  • Ensure colleagues provide excellent customer service to veterans, colleagues, and clinic visitors.
  • Participate in managing the clinic’s financial performance.
  • Participate in clinic outreach events supporting enrollment initiatives.
  • Support patient enrollment and retention by providing guidance about scheduling, follow-up visits, and nurse visits when necessary.
  • Maintain staffing levels consistent with veteran enrollment, contract terms, and clinical outcomes.
  • Review and analyze responses to alerts and notifications.
  • Ensure clinic metrics meet or exceed the Veterans Affairs threshold.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and retain talent through communication, training, competency enforcement, and performance management when required.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with Veterans Affairs partners and keep the Regional Medical Director informed of significant issues.
  • Support and execute new clinical or operational initiatives and strategic initiatives that drive business success.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of clinical medical practice with healthcare management experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a government healthcare environment is preferred.
