About the job

Requirements
  • Solid programming ability in Python, including writing, debugging, and maintaining scripts that move and transform data, and producing working code from messy point lists and loose specifications.
  • Working understanding of how to consume and build against REST APIs, including authentication, requests and responses, and error handling, with willingness to deepen this in production.
  • Foundational SQL skills, including querying relational databases to extract and validate data.
  • Ability and interest in creating automated, repeatable tooling rather than relying on manual solutions.
  • Ability to explain technical details clearly and work effectively with teammates and clients.
  • Ownership and problem-solving drive, including staying with difficult problems, asking questions, and pushing toward resolution.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, or data, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to end-to-end technical delivery of asset onboarding projects, supporting data discovery, source-system assessment, integration, validation, and go-live for portfolios spanning many sites and large volumes of data points.
  • Build custom solutions where off-the-shelf configuration falls short, including data collectors, transformation pipelines, mapping tools, and automation that bridge client source systems and the platform.
  • Write Python and API scripts to extract, transform, and load operational data, including bulk provisioning tools, tag-mapping utilities, backfill and reconciliation scripts, and integrations against REST APIs and platform endpoints.
  • Integrate with field data sources such as SCADA historians, OT/IoT data platforms, SFTP feeds, and third-party APIs; diagnose pipeline failures and resolve data-quality issues.
  • Map and model assets at scale, translating raw point lists and naming conventions into the platform's data model for inverters, trackers, meters, weather stations, transformers, and storage systems.
  • Support technical relationships with clients and vendors by helping scope work, set expectations, and coordinate with client engineering teams and external integration partners.
  • Document repeatable processes, including onboarding checklists, integration runbooks, and how-to guides, to scale delivery beyond a single engineer.
  • Partner with internal DataOps, product, and support teams to surface platform gaps, share field learnings with product teams, and improve the onboarding playbook.
Desired Qualifications
  • Exposure to the solar, renewable energy, or broader power and utilities sector.
  • Familiarity with SCADA or historian systems, such as Ignition or OSIsoft/AVEVA PI, and industrial or OT data.
  • Understanding of utility-scale solar or BESS operations, including inverters, trackers, meters, met stations, and the data they produce.
  • Experience with time-series data at scale, including aggregation, interpolation, and backfill considerations.
  • Familiarity with APM, EAM, or asset monitoring platforms, or related performance and availability reporting concepts.
  • Exposure to energy-market or grid data feeds and the access mechanics associated with them.
  • Experience with version control, scripting for automation, and lightweight ETL.

What believers are saying

  • BayWa r.e. selected SynaptiQ for strategic PV and BESS assets in 2024.
  • Everday used SynaptiQ on a 1.6 GWp portfolio, validating enterprise-scale operations.
  • 3E added IZEN in June 2026 and launched SynaptiQ project development in September 2026.

What critics are saying

  • 3E depends on renewables capex cycles; project pauses hit consultancy revenue immediately.
  • SynaptiQ still needs renewals from BayWa r.e., Everday, and IZEN in 2026-2027.
  • A larger platform vendor can bundle monitoring, ERP, and compliance, compressing 3E margins.

What makes 3E unique

  • SynaptiQ combines AI analytics with physics-based digital twins for solar, wind, and storage.
  • 3E couples software with consultancy, supporting projects from feasibility through operations.
  • ISO 17025 accreditation strengthens wind measurement credibility versus generic monitoring vendors.
