Tesla designs and sells electric vehicles and renewable energy products. Its cars (Model S, 3, X, Y, and Roadster) run on battery power, with a semi-autonomous Autopilot driving system and a global network of fast-charging stations called Superchargers. The company also provides solar panels, Solar Roof, and energy storage products (Powerwall, Powerpack, Megapack) to generate and store clean energy for homes and businesses. Tesla operates with a vertically integrated model, manufacturing key components (batteries, drivetrains) and selling directly to customers via its website and stores, while earning revenue from vehicle and energy product sales and regulatory credits. Its goal is to speed up the world’s transition to sustainable energy by combining mobility and energy solutions in one ecosystem.

Musk's $1T Tesla pay plan requires $8.5T market cap and ambitious robotics milestones

Tesla shareholders approved a $1 trillion pay plan for CEO Elon Musk last November, the largest executive compensation package in corporate history. The deal would increase Musk's voting power from 13.6% to 24.9%. The package is structured in 12 tranches totalling about 424 million restricted shares. Each requires Tesla to meet market cap milestones ranging from $2 trillion to $8.5 trillion, alongside operational targets including 20 million vehicles delivered, 10 million Full-Self Driving subscriptions, and adjusted EBITDA reaching $400 billion. Musk has until September 2035 to achieve these goals. If all tranches are earned, Tesla's share price would reach approximately $1,945, representing 433% growth from the current $365. Over 75% of shareholders voted in favour, as the targets align compensation with ambitious performance requirements that would transform Tesla beyond automotive manufacturing into robotics and robotaxis.

Musk agrees with Anthropic CEO on AI safety whilst SpaceX pursues $100B AI revenue goal

Elon Musk has endorsed Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's call for slower AI development, whilst noting he has been warning about AI risks since 2023. Musk previously stated that AGI poses greater risks than nuclear weapons. Despite his concerns, Musk has invested heavily in AI through SpaceX's AI division and data centres, plus Tesla's robotaxis and Optimus robots. SpaceX has secured AI compute deals worth $45.7 billion in annual recurring revenue for December, with a target of $100 billion by year-end. Amodei advocates for third-party evaluators to assess AI models and safety practices at frontier AI companies. Anthropic's IPO filing is expected shortly, whilst OpenAI has pushed its IPO to 2027, citing safety concerns.

Ford's $12.5B cash flow beats Tesla's AI bet despite $8.2B loss

Ford Motor reported nearly $187.3 billion in revenue for FY 2025, up 1.2% year-over-year, though it posted a net loss of approximately $8.2 billion. The company maintains a debt-to-equity ratio of around 4.5x and generated $3.5 billion in adjusted free cash flow. Tesla's revenue declined 2.9% to close to $94.8 billion in FY 2025, with net income of nearly $3.8 billion and a 4% net margin. The company holds a debt-to-equity ratio of roughly 0.1x and produced nearly $6.2 billion in free cash flow. Ford faces risks including recall campaigns and supplier dependencies, whilst Tesla contends with production ramp challenges and regulatory uncertainties around autonomous driving. Ford trades at a significantly lower forward P/E ratio than Tesla.

Tesla's US EV market share surge driven by legacy automaker retreat and Model Y redesign

Investor Gary Black attributes Tesla's US electric vehicle market share surge to legacy automakers scaling back EV investments and the Model Y redesign. In a Sunday post on X, the Future Fund co-founder cited manufacturers like Ford, General Motors, and Honda reducing EV efforts to cut losses. He pointed to Ford discontinuing the F-150 Lightning and Tesla's Model Y Juniper launch in early 2025 as key factors. Black dismissed Tesla's Full Self-Driving system as a contributor to market share gains, saying "no one other than Tesla bulls on X are aware of FSD". He argued that advertising FSD would boost Tesla's market position significantly. Through August 2026, Tesla's US sales fell 2% year-to-date, whilst overall US EV sales dropped 30%.

Tesla establishes first operational presence in Vietnam

Tesla has established a local operating unit in Vietnam, marking its first official presence in the country. The company currently shows no sales, service, or charging locations on its store locator. The entry comes as local manufacturer VinFast reported delivering 175,099 electric vehicles in Vietnam during 2025, which the company described as a record. Vietnam is extending electric vehicle tax incentives, including reduced excise tax and registration fees, until 2030. The move represents Tesla's expansion into Southeast Asia's growing EV market, where government support and local competition are shaping the industry's development.
