Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or another related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of prior work experience in the benefits brokerage, consulting, or insurance industry.
  • Strong background in self-funding and stop-loss underwriting.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and process.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with carriers and internal teams to build and maintain schedules for client renewals and data collection, ensuring consistent and timely receipt.
  • Perform underwriting, financial, and risk analysis support for internal teams and consulting clients.
  • Manage the client benefits marketing process, including data acquisition, request for proposal preparation, vendor question resolution, proposal review and analysis, and client exhibit and presentation preparation.
  • Analyze and negotiate rates and plan options with insurers on behalf of clients to secure optimal, cost-competitive benefit plans.
  • Validate renewals and proposals for accuracy.
  • Work with MMA Agency contacts to intake the stop-loss process and educate the agency on self-funding, stop-loss, and captives as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with team members to understand stop-loss request-for-proposal status and overall panel block positions.
  • Update leadership on trends in the stop-loss market, including DTQ rates, renewal positions, and contractual concerns for panel management discussions.
  • Support the MMA stop-loss captives quoting process.
  • Review request-for-proposal and renewal results as requested by MMA East or local MMA agencies.
  • Support the stop-loss claims tracking process.
  • Compile results of the annual Request for Information process for potential stop-loss panel participants to support panel selection recommendations and suggested agreement changes.
  • Review and provide best-practice recommendations on MMA East models and outputs, including financial, qualitative, quantitative, disruption, and discount analyses for other lines of coverage.
  • Maintain quality service standards and organization to ensure timely service to MMA East and MMA Agency teams.
  • Monitor the changing insurance environment, new and complex insurance initiatives, applicable data analysis techniques, and legislation governing the business.
  • Support other initiatives of the Strategic Initiatives Division and Underwriting Team as needed.

  • Experience and knowledge of Dental, Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, and COBRA administration to support development of a broader Center of Excellence model and detailed requests for information.

US employers plan 3.2% merit pay rises for 2027 amid economic uncertainty

US employers plan to maintain moderate salary increases in 2027, according to Marsh's Mercer QuickPulse survey of 1,001 organisations. Base salary merit increases are projected at 3.2%, with total salary increases at 3.5%, marking four consecutive years of similar rates. Economic uncertainty continues influencing compensation decisions, with 57% of employers expecting at least moderate impact. High Tech (3.8%), Banking (3.7%), and Energy (3.6%) lead in merit budgets, whilst Consumer Goods (2.9%) and Healthcare (3.0%) lag behind. Employers expect to promote 8.4% of their workforce in 2027, down from 8.6% in 2026. Off-cycle salary adjustments remain common, with 64% of organisations providing them. AI adoption in compensation planning is growing, with 70% of organisations reporting some automation, primarily for market pricing recommendations and benchmarking.

Marsh beats Q1 estimates with $7.6B revenue, $3.29 EPS as organic growth hits 5%

Marsh reported Q1 revenue of $7.6 billion, up 7.6% year-over-year, beating the consensus estimate of $7.38 billion by 2.88%. Earnings per share came in at $3.29, compared to $3.06 in the prior-year quarter, surpassing the consensus estimate of $3.21 by 2.46%. Key metrics showed mixed performance against analyst expectations. Consolidated organic revenue growth of 5% exceeded the 3.5% estimate, whilst consulting organic growth of 5% topped the 4.4% forecast. However, Guy Carpenter's organic growth of 2% fell short of the 4.2% estimate. Geographically, Marsh's EMEA division generated $1.21 billion in revenue, up 14.1% year-over-year and beating estimates. Mercer consulting revenue reached $1.66 billion, an 11% increase that surpassed the $1.58 billion consensus.
