About the job

Requirements
  • Deep proficiency with React and modern TypeScript.
  • Strong frontend engineering fundamentals, including component architecture, state management, performance, browser behavior, styling systems, and testing.
  • A portfolio or track record of shipping polished, user-facing software that real people have used.
  • Ability to reason from user goals, identify friction, simplify workflows, and make pragmatic product tradeoffs.
  • Strong UX instincts and visual taste, with the ability to work through multiple design iterations rather than stopping at the first functional version.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with technical and non-technical teammates, communicate design and engineering tradeoffs clearly, and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Five or more years of software engineering experience and a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
  • Work deeply in React and modern TypeScript to create fast, reliable, expressive interfaces for novel human-computer interaction workflows.
  • Translate intuitive product ideas into clear interaction models, user experience flows, and high-quality user interface implementations.
  • Prototype new product concepts quickly, test them with in-house users and external participants, and iterate based on what feels useful, delightful, and intuitive.
  • Improve onboarding, setup flows, data collection experiences, session flows, and other high-friction parts of the user journey.
  • Use qualitative feedback, instrumentation, funnels, and lightweight experiments to understand user behavior and make better product decisions.
  • Help establish frontend patterns, component systems, interaction standards, and implementation practices that let the team move quickly without sacrificing quality.
  • Attend to layout, responsiveness, empty states, error states, loading states, accessibility, performance, motion, copy, and the overall feel of the product.
Desired Qualifications
  • A creative, artistic, design, or visual background, whether formal or self-taught.
  • Experience building design systems, component libraries, interactive prototypes, or highly polished consumer or product interfaces.
  • Experience with animation, motion design, canvas/WebGL, graphics, real-time interfaces, or other interaction-heavy frontend work.
  • Experience designing product experiments, instrumentation, funnels, dashboards, or feedback loops to guide iteration.
  • Experience working on products involving hardware, sensors, real-time data, machine-learning-driven experiences, or novel human-computer interaction.
  • Familiarity with native frameworks such as iOS, macOS, Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, AppKit, or similar.
  • Comfort working lightly across the stack when needed, especially to unblock product prototypes or connect frontend experiences to APIs.
  • Curiosity about the history of input, wearable, and calm computing.

About the company

Tacit builds an AI-powered digital twin platform for building operations that connects to a building’s existing infrastructure—HVAC, BMS, meters, and IoT sensors—to unify data. Its Agentic AI uses context-aware agents to diagnose, troubleshoot, and autonomously adjust systems, reducing the need for manual intervention and addressing issues like HVAC faults. It provides root-cause analysis, predicts equipment degradation, and continuously optimizes energy use in real time based on occupancy and weather, with audit trails ensuring transparency. The goal is to automate a significant portion of building issues to lower operating expenses, reduce energy waste, and free facilities teams for more strategic work.

What believers are saying

  • March 2026 Haatch-led funding supports commercial rollout across the UK and Greece.
  • Tacit reported 10-30% energy savings and 10-100x faster diagnostics in pilots.
  • London hiring for sales and machine learning roles signals active go-to-market expansion.

What critics are saying

  • March 2026's €300k round leaves Tacit undercapitalized for long enterprise sales cycles.
  • Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, and Siemens own incumbent BMS relationships and distribution.
  • A failed 2026–2027 rollout across UK portfolios kills Tacit before repeatable revenue emerges.

What makes Tacit unique

  • Tacit's UCL research base and Greek founders anchor rare building-operations AI credibility.
  • March 2026 pilots cut UCL building energy 18% and saved £270k annually.
  • Tacit agents diagnose HVAC faults autonomously, with audit trails for every action.
