L'Occitane extends beauty Discovery into Hôtel Quintessence's guest experience.

L'Occitane extends beauty Discovery into Hôtel Quintessence's guest experience. L'Occitane en Provence's new amenity partnership puts the brand inside a luxury hotel stay on Lake Tremblant. Published: Sep 4, 2026 12:38 AM L'Occitane en Provence has announced a new amenity partnership with Hôtel Quintessence on Lake Tremblant in Canada, adding a hospitality setting to the brand's customer touchpoints. Select L'Occitane products are now part of the guest experience at the luxury retreat. The partnership places beauty within a stay rather than a conventional shopping trip. Guests encounter the products in the course of everyday routines, giving the brand an opportunity to be experienced before a customer makes a separate retail purchase. Hospitality as a Discovery Channel For a beauty business, hotel amenities can function differently from counter sampling. The setting gives guests time to use a product, while the property's own positioning supplies context for how the brand is presented. The relationship is therefore both a business-to-business supply arrangement and a potential introduction to consumers. That does not automatically make it a retail acquisition success. The path from trying an amenity to buying a full-size product depends on whether guests can identify what they used and easily find it again. Clear product information and consistent availability would be important links in that journey. The Details That Will Define Its Scale Its strategic relevance is narrower but tangible: L'Occitane has added a named luxury property where product experience can become part of the brand relationship... Aptar Beauty creates refillable pump for L'Occitane hand care redesign.

Aptar Beauty creates refillable pump for L'Occitane hand care redesign. 01 Sep 2026 Key takeaways. * Aptar Beauty developed a custom refillable pump solution for L'Occitane en Provence's redesigned hand care collection. * The pump features an oversized actuator, glossy black finish, and accessible design elements to improve usability. * The collaboration supports longer product lifecycles through refillable glass and plastic bottles. (Image credit: Aptar Beauty). Aptar Beauty has provided L'Occitane en Provence with custom dispensing pumps that support the packaging redesign of the beauty brand's hand care collection, transforming the products into refillable and reusable objects. The design draws on the brand's apothecary heritage, with a bottle inspired by traditional apothecary jars and a pump stamped as a mark of the brand's artisanal process. Benjamin Girard, sales director custom at Aptar Beauty EMEA, says: "Our co-creation approach to custom development takes advantage of our technical expertise and manufacturing synergies to create unique pumps that support brand differentiation and product inclusivity." Premium appearance. Aptar Beauty created a fully custom solution based on its Satine cosmetic pump, with a 24/410 screw-on neck finish for refillability. Available in glass and plastic, the 350 ml and 500 ml redesigned bottles are refillable to extend the product lifecycles. The large actuator and oversized collar were developed to match the wider dimensions of the packaging silhouette. It is lacquered in a glossy black finish, providing visual consistency with the rest of the products of the brand. The wide actuation surface aims to enhance accessibility and support people with reduced hand mobility. L'Occitane En Provence worked with Aptar Beauty to develop a pump that aligns with the bottle when unlocked and delivers a 500 μl dose to ensure controlled and clean dispensing. Last month, Aptar Beauty expanded the production of its Meridian aerosol actuator platform in the US to support supply chain resilience and accelerate time-to-market. The aerosol actuators - Meridian Spray and Meridian Mousse - are compatible with a variety of aerosol personal care formats and are touted to deliver ergonomic performance and a premium design. Earlier this year, the company launched the aerosol Double Click dispensing system for enhanced user inclusivity and e-commerce reliability in personal care applications. It is compatible with the patented Twist-to-Lock collection, a range of hoodless aerosol actuators. Meanwhile, Aptar Beauty equipped Clarins with a two-in-one dispensing bottle for the cosmetics company's latest Double Serum Foundation. In the bottle, a thin wall separates two chambers, with a ratio of 70% of color cosmetics and 30% hydric system. The products stay separate until application.

APAC's Repair & Reuse movement: from embedded habit to designed consumption system.

APAC's Repair & Reuse movement: from embedded habit to designed consumption system. Across Asia-Pacific, repair and reuse have always been part of how people live with products. Long before sustainability entered boardrooms or brand narratives, households across the region were repairing, reusing, maintaining and passing on - shaped by deep relationships with material, labour and value. In Japan, the cultural idea of mottainai reflects a moral discomfort with waste and an expectation of stewardship towards objects. In India, clothes are passed down, furniture is re-polished, appliances are repaired, containers are reused. Across South & Southeast Asia, dense networks of tailors, cobblers, carpenters and technicians have long supported a repair-first economy. These practices have never required explanation. They have been socially understood, practically enabled and culturally legitimate. Ownership in many APAC contexts has always implied care. What is changing now is the scale, visibility and formalisation of these behaviours. Repair and reuse are moving from background practice into designed systems. Why repair and reuse are gaining more visibility today What was once informal and assumed is now becoming structured and intentional, driven by a convergence of economic pressure and system redesign. * As per BCG's Global Consumer Radar report, across emerging Asia, inflation and cost volatility are reshaping how households evaluate replacement. When repurchasing becomes heavier to justify, extending product life becomes a rational choice and so these actions become more a way to stabilise household economics vs ethical gestures. * At the same time, businesses are rethinking product life cycles; KPMG's work on circular economy readiness in India and Southeast Asia highlights repair, take-back, refill and reuse models are being explored as operating strategies - linked to cost containment, supply chain resilience and regulatory direction. * India's Right to Repair framework adds institutional weight, signalling that repair is moving from informal practice to formal consumer right. Together, these shifts are reshaping how value is protected. Repair and reuse are becoming risk management tools for households and resilience mechanisms for businesses. This is why their presence is now extending well beyond categories where repair has traditionally existed. It is entering beauty, home, fashion, packaged goods and everyday FMCG, changing how products are designed, circulated and retained. A. Beauty & Personal Care - Refill and Solid Formats as System Design Beauty is a high-frequency, high-packaging category, which makes its move towards refill and solid formats particularly significant. Here, reuse is being built into the product experience, not added as an afterthought. * L'Occitane (Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan) introduced in-store refill fountains for shower gels and shampoos, allowing consumers to return with the same bottle rather than purchase anew. * The Body Shop (Singapore, Indonesia, Australia) has expanded refill stations across stores in Singapore, Indonesia and Australia, making refilling part of the regular shopping journey rather than a special initiative. * Wow Skin Science (India) has introduced refill pouches for shampoos and personal care products, bringing refill logic into the masstige segment and signalling that reuse is no longer confined to premium niches. * Ethique in Australia and Lush across Australia & Japan are normalising solid formats - bar shampoos, conditioners and soaps - reducing packaging altogether and extending product life through format design. B. Home & Living - Repair, Re-polish, Re-use as Default Value Logic Home categories across India, Indonesia and Thailand have long operated on a repair-and-refresh logic rather than replace-and-discard. Furniture is re-polished, upholstery is changed, and carpenter networks play a central role in extending product life. his cultural logic is now being mirrored in organised retail, for instance: * Urban Ladder & Pepperfry (India) - have resale/exchange furniture sections * Muji (Japan)- has introduced furniture repair services and spare parts access, reinforcing longevity as part of its brand promise. C. Fashion & Apparel - From Hand-me-down Culture to Platformed Recommerce In world of fast fashion, there is still an element inheritance and hand-me-down culture in APAC. What is changing is how organised, visible and aspirational reuse has become. * RE;CODE, ULKIN (South Korea) - are transforming surplus textiles into design-led collections, positioning upcycling as creative reinterpretation rather than compromise. * Reflaunt (Singapore-based, operating across APAC) - enables brands to integrate resale directly into their ecosystem, making second life part of the brand journey rather than an external channel. D. Packaged Goods & Ritual Consumption - Waste-to-Value Models Packaged goods reveal some of the most culturally specific expressions of reuse in APAC. This is where material flows, ritual and livelihood intersect. * Phool (India) - upcycles temple flower waste into incense, compost and vegan leather. It builds a value chain around what was previously treated as ritual waste, aligning environmental logic with cultural practice. * KeepCup and Who Gives A Crap (Australia) - have built businesses around reuse and reduced disposal, embedding non-disposal into everyday consumption formats rather than positioning it as niche behaviour. * Tipco and Malee (Thailand) - functions within returnable glass bottle ecosystems supported by traditional trade networks, making container return part of the purchase cycle rather than a special initiative. What this means for brands: Repair and reuse are often treated as tactical additions - programs, pilots, or sustainability features. In APAC, they operate at a deeper level & reshaping how value is understood, protected, and prolonged. * Design for continuity, not conversion - In APAC, quality is increasingly judged by how long a product stays useful. Durability, repairability and refill ability are becoming quiet signals of trust and reassurance. * Build for second life from day one -Products that anticipate repair, refill, refurbishment or resale at the design stage will not only age better but also deliver deeper promise of value to the end consumer. * Shift from selling units to enabling ownership -Brands that support maintenance, parts access and care ecosystems will feel more relevant & closer to the consumer than those that exit the relationship at checkout. * Treat informal repair ecosystems as assets -Local technicians, carpenters, tailors and repair markets are deeply trusted. Integration into these systems and enablement will outperform attempts at replacement. * Anchor in local value logics, not global sustainability scripts -Across APAC, practicality, continuity and respect for material often matter more than environmental framing. Reuse signals intelligence and agency, not compromise. Across APAC, repair and reuse are not about consuming less - they are about consuming with meaning. They reflect how societies reinterpret value, continuity, and care in an increasingly complex world. Through nuanced qualitative research and cultural decoding, ELEVATE Insights helps brands translate local realities into strategic clarity. By understanding how value, identity, and meaning are constructed across markets, Elevate Insights enable organisations to design with relevance, build long-term value, and engage meaningfully with evolving expectations across APAC. For brands willing to listen deeply, these shifts offer more than sustainability cues - they offer insight into what truly matters to people today.
