Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience and the ability to independently design hydronic and steam boiler plants, chiller plants, terminal unit systems, distribution systems, and control systems for renovated and new facilities are required.
  • At least 5 years of experience using energy modeling and heat load software to perform energy-use analyses and heat-load calculations are required.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of psychrometrics are required.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical building codes, energy codes, and construction standards is required.
  • Strong understanding of direct digital control systems, controls design, and operation is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Survey and study building mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Design heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, building automation systems, and plumbing.
  • Provide technical direction to mechanical designers and technicians on specific projects.
  • Write progress and other reports.
  • Write project specifications.
  • Manage projects.
  • Proactively identify and resolve problems.
  • Coordinate and verify project deliverables.
  • Participate in business development meetings with prospective clients, prepare and deliver proposals, and interact with clients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Revit, architectural and mechanical/electrical/plumbing packages, and BIM 360 is preferred.
  • Plumbing experience is preferred.
