Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum of two years of acute hospital-based experience is listed, though marked preferred in the detailed work-experience section.
  • Must hold ARRT Registration, a current California Certified Radiologic Technologist credential, a current California Fluoroscopy Permit, CT ARRT, and venipuncture certification.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Adhere to patient-safety practices and report potential or actual safety issues.
  • Attend assigned in-service classes and comply with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Support the unit team and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers.
  • Document examination history, unusual conditions or limitations, examination time, and technologist identification in the PACS system.
  • Use information systems programs for daily duties and billing procedures, and lift and transfer patients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient-care and medical-record information and follow HIPAA regulations when accessing protected health information.
  • Inspect equipment for safety before initial use and report unsafe acts or conditions to a manager.
  • Comply with safety and infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Assess pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients to demonstrate requested anatomy through patient positioning, technique selection, contrast-media selection, immobilization, and radiation-protection devices; provide educational information to family members as required.
  • Produce quality images using appropriate exposure factors and patient positioning.
  • Apply radiological techniques and safely operate and maintain radiological equipment.
  • Participate in organization-wide performance improvement, orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental improvement, and quality-planning activities.
  • Review radiology requisitions, verify examinations against physicians’ orders, and check patient histories and special instructions.
  • Greet patients, verify their identities, and explain procedures.
  • Rotate to assigned shifts and work areas and work overtime as directed.
  • Perform computed tomography procedures to departmental Medical Director specifications and standards.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning them to capture images requested by a physician.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
