About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar position on tunnel construction sites, particularly in traditional tunnel lining and tunnel boring machine work.
  • Ability to adapt to the work and become familiar with the company's activities.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, schedule, and direct work in accordance with safety, deadlines, quality, and budget requirements.
  • Manage civil engineering work and the launch structures for the gripper tunnel boring machine.
  • Provide directions for installing operating equipment and tunnel boring machine launch structures.
  • Establish and update the detailed schedule for the installation phase, coordinating teams and subcontractors.
  • Define staffing and equipment needs for the assigned scope.
  • Monitor daily production, analyze failures, and propose optimizations.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Execute work according to plans and method statements, and arrange acceptance of completed structures.
  • Apply and verify labor-law and regulatory requirements, as well as the personnel onboarding procedure.
  • Establish execution procedures and updates to the health, safety, and environmental prevention plan suited to the work and its risks.
  • Ensure compliance with working hours, personnel fitness, and traffic and equipment rules.
  • Organize workstation onboarding and workstations using safe-task sheets.
  • Organize and lead safety briefings and team briefings.
  • Inform management of difficulties, malfunctions, possible improvements, and potential needs.
  • Report quality, safety, and environmental nonconformities to the relevant managers, and report accidents and near misses to the prevention department.
  • Inspect work quality and incorporate environmental requirements.
  • Participate in the final selection of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Conduct budget monitoring for the assigned scope and report budget status to the mechanized operations manager.
  • Provide the information needed to prepare work progress statements and process invoices.
  • Compare actual costs with the forecast budget and make adjustments.
  • Approve and validate orders and arrange preparation of contracts under the purchasing procedure.
  • Validate team timesheets and employees' leave.
  • Complete environmental indicators and weekly activity and safety reports.
  • Ensure consumables are supplied and schedule preventive maintenance with the equipment department.
  • Establish and distribute written work instructions.
  • Ensure personnel receive the required operating authorizations.
  • Participate in and lead the Lean workshop for the assigned scope.
  • Coordinate with equipment, logistics, and conventional construction departments.
  • Establish and track monthly and three-week progress schedules, as well as team rotation schedules.
  • Prepare and submit site logs to the project manager.
  • Organize work cycles and lead production teams to meet objectives.
  • Study excavation parameters and tool wear to optimize tunnel boring machine performance.
