Requirements
  • A specialized diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Three years of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting is required.
  • At least one year of experience in endoscopy is required.
  • Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, including respectful collaboration, care planning, and staff education and mentoring.
  • Knowledge of cultural awareness and the ability to connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds while educating and mentoring staff in cultural awareness and practices.
  • Knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques, including transmitting, receiving, and accurately interpreting ideas, information, and needs.
  • Knowledge of patient and designated care partner education techniques for children and adults, including education about conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
  • Knowledge of medications used to treat patients and their administration.
  • Knowledge of post-discharge needs, transition-of-care planning, and arranging follow-up care.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment tools, nursing diagnosis, clinical judgment, and resolution of symptoms using available drugs, facilities, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of health information relevance and appropriate documentation methods.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • A Pennsylvania or New Jersey registered nurse license is required.
  • The role requires frequent to continuous standing and walking, lifting and carrying 40–50 pounds, and the ability to perform role-specific activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to address patients' physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs.
  • Promote and support evidence-based practice.
  • Interact with coworkers, patients, families or designated care partners, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient and family preferences, and cultural beliefs and values to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Identify learning needs and priorities with patients and families or designated care partners and provide understandable, affirming education.
  • Follow established nursing practices and protocols to minimize risk of harm to patients and others.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Coordinate and delegate aspects of care to team members according to their education, competence, and scope of practice.
  • Assist staff nurses in using the nursing process to provide professional nursing care based on established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist staff in implementing evidence-based practice to improve quality of care.
  • Function within nursing and interprofessional teams to support communication, mutual respect, shared decision-making, and quality patient care.
  • Recognize and incorporate patients' and families' personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values into safe, compassionate, coordinated care.
  • Create an environment of belonging and inclusion and apply problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Facilitate staff orientation and continuing education and maintain competency responsibilities.
  • Perform quality and safety responsibilities, including reviewing data and action plans.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Chief Nursing Executive.
  • Promote staff professional development.
  • Seek continued professional growth and development and serve as the primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including nursing professional governance and safety and quality improvement committees.
  • Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
  • Serve as clinical educator for the Honickman and Bala Cynwyd locations.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing with an emphasis in clinical nursing practice.
  • Certified Nurse Educator certification from the National League for Nursing.
