Payroll and Benefits Specialist
About the job
- A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least five years of payroll, HRIS data management, and benefits experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting multi-state U.S. payroll.
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now.
- Experience entering, maintaining, and auditing employee data in an HRIS.
- Working knowledge of U.S. payroll practices, taxes, and employment-related data requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work effectively across HR and Finance teams.
- Act as the designated resource for weekly and semi-monthly U.S. payroll processing.
- Review and enter payroll-related changes, including new hires, terminations, salary updates, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and other employee changes.
- Validate payroll data, identify discrepancies, and support payroll audits and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with HR and Finance regarding payroll changes, approvals, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
- Maintain payroll documentation and assist with payroll-related reports.
- Serve as the centralized data entry resource for the HRIS, entering and maintaining employee information accurately and on time.
- Process employee lifecycle updates, including hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, status changes, leaves, and terminations.
- Perform routine data audits and resolve incomplete, inconsistent, or inaccurate records.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow internal controls for employee and payroll information.
- Partner with HR stakeholders to standardize data-entry practices and support reliable HR reporting.
- Assist with employee benefit enrollments, life-event changes, and annual open enrollment activities, as assigned.
- Update benefits-related employee data in the HRIS and coordinate with benefits vendors or brokers when required.
- Help respond to routine employee benefits inquiries and escalate complex matters to the appropriate internal or external partner.
- Support accurate benefits records and related compliance documentation.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
