Requirements
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, National Fire Protection Association, National Electrical Code, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, submittals, single-line diagrams, and other contract documents.
  • Ability to track quality-control details across multiple project activities while working under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, to create documents, analyze data, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, hands-on working environment.
  • Experience in a decision-making position, with self-motivation and an analytical mindset.
  • Experience collaborating with field and management personnel to understand and implement technology and quality programs.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of three years of electrical construction, quality control, or commissioning experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
  • Drive a quality culture based on implementing quality from the start and coach a continuous-learning approach that improves project efficiency and quality.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement quality and commissioning programs on projects through proactive planning, training, support, and sharing lessons learned.
  • Manage verification and documentation for owner-furnished, contractor-installed equipment, ensuring conformance with approved submittals and adherence to the Equipment Protection Plan.
  • Collaborate with construction and quality and commissioning teams to schedule and conduct foreign-object-and-debris inspections before energization of medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, transformers, and panelboards.
  • Torque bolts and fasteners accurately to specified tolerances, ensuring proper assembly and safety standards.
  • Conduct megger testing on feeder wires to verify insulation resistance and electrical safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, torque reports, megger reports, and related documentation.
  • Assist with the First Time Energization process from start to finish.
  • Participate in required daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, including commissioning, scheduling, coordination, pre-energization, and staffing meetings, when the quality and commissioning manager cannot attend.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of processes, systems, and documentation to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Prepare daily quality reports documenting field discrepancies and audit findings while supporting corrective actions.
  • Support investigations into quality-related incidents, conduct root-cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and establish preventive measures to minimize recurrence.
  • Identify and assess quality risks associated with mission-critical operations.
  • Perform other assigned duties, including temporary assignments and training assignments.
