Requirements
  • At least 10 years of embedded firmware engineering experience, including ownership of firmware architecture end-to-end for at least one shipped consumer product.
  • Deep expertise across embedded real-time operating systems and bare-metal ARM Cortex-M, with familiarity across at least two ecosystems such as Zephyr, FreeRTOS, ESP-IDF, ThreadX, or NuttX.
  • Hands-on experience hosting real-time digital signal processing runtimes alongside wireless connectivity on resource-constrained microcontrollers and integrating algorithms owned by other teams.
  • A strong background in multi-radio coexistence involving Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy, low-power state-machine design, and over-the-air updates with safe rollback.
  • Ability to work in the lab with JTAG, Serial Wire Debug, logic analyzers, and protocol sniffers, and to drive bring-up from first power-on through end-to-end functional demonstrations.
Responsibilities
  • Architect firmware across the distributed-compute platform, including real-time operating system selection, task structure, inter-processor protocols, over-the-air updates, and time synchronization.
  • Own the runtime hosting every subsystem, including audio digital signal processing, camera capture, and biopotential acquisition, through specified interfaces with each subsystem lead.
  • Own the media and connectivity microcontroller pipeline, camera capture, audio runtime, wake-word functionality, Wi-Fi streaming, and onboard logging concurrently within strict CPU and memory budgets.
  • Drive low-power firmware on the always-on microcontroller, including state machines for standby, assist, and continuous modes, hardware-enforced privacy, and thermal throttling.
  • Build the multi-microcontroller time-synchronization layer to correlate electroencephalography, audio, and camera data downstream.
  • Establish firmware engineering practices that scale, including build and release pipelines, on-device telemetry, automated testing, over-the-air updates with safe rollback, and field-debug tooling.
  • Partner with the electrical engineering lead on hardware bring-up and boot paths and with the reliability lead on field telemetry, error handling, and diagnostic surfaces.
  • Bring up application-specific integrated circuits in collaboration with the electrical engineering and silicon teams.
  • Ship the product by the end of the year and build and lead the firmware team as it scales to production.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deploying neural network inference to low-power microcontrollers or dedicated artificial intelligence accelerators, including model conversion, quantization, and runtime integration.
  • Familiarity with on-device inference frameworks and edge artificial intelligence runtimes.
  • Experience with custom artificial intelligence accelerator silicon, neuromorphic compute, or in-memory compute platforms.
  • Experience with on-device wake-word or always-on voice activation engines.
  • Experience integrating biopotential acquisition over standard sensor buses.

Sabi designs everyday products that are easier to use and more attractive, targeting items people rely on daily such as walking canes, pill boxes, and bathroom hardware. Their approach centers on user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing designs that improve comfort and function. How the products work: they emphasize ergonomic handles, simple mechanisms, reliable materials, and intuitive use—so users can operate items with less effort and more confidence. How Sabi differs from competitors: they prioritize combining practicality with beauty, moving away from plain, uninspired, hard-to-use designs toward objects people actually enjoy using. Their goal is to make daily tools smarter and more delightful to use, so everyday life feels smoother and more enjoyable.
