Requirements
  • Current Certified Medication Aide certification meeting Texas requirements.
  • Completion of an approved Medication Aide training program.
  • Ability to maintain all required continuing education and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of medication administration, resident safety, and infection-control practices.
  • Strong observation and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a resident-care team.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work the scheduled shift, including weekends or holidays when required.
Responsibilities
  • Safely administer prescribed medications according to physician orders, state regulations, and community policies.
  • Accurately document medication administration and maintain required medication records.
  • Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, reactions, and changes in condition.
  • Immediately communicate concerns or changes in resident condition to licensed nursing staff.
  • Review resident service and care plans for updates affecting medication or resident support.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident needs and call lights.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care as needed.
  • Support a clean, safe, and comfortable resident environment.
  • Follow infection-control, medication-safety, confidentiality, and resident-rights procedures.
  • Assist with medication inventory and communicate shortages or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate closely with LVNs, nursing leadership, caregivers, and other community team members.
  • Support the orientation and development of new care-team members when appropriate.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous senior living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or healthcare experience.
  • Previous Certified Nursing Assistant experience.
