About the job
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience, including high-quality internships.
- Strong coding skills, problem-solving ability, and knowledge of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Proficiency with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, along with an AI-first development style.
- Comfort working across the stack, including writing React components, debugging Kubernetes pods, and tuning database queries.
- Good judgment regarding security, testing, code quality, and technical debt.
- Appreciation of continuous delivery, clean code, and automated testing.
- Ability to own features end-to-end with minimal direction.
- Ability to work independently and come up to speed without heavy assistance.
- Experience and comfort working on a remote team.
- Ability to handle multiple work streams and frequent context switching as priorities change.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends when necessary for urgent deliverables.
- Ability to learn from others while advocating for and executing on improvements.
- Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident and based in the United States.
- Build and extend the TypeScript backend serving real-time mining operations data across web and mobile clients.
- Work across backend services, applied artificial intelligence and machine learning, React frontend development, and infrastructure.
- Build computer vision pipelines integrating AWS Rekognition, TensorFlow, and SAM3 for personal protective equipment detection, person recognition, and safety monitoring.
- Integrate with industrial systems using SCADA and OPC-UA to monitor and optimize mine equipment in real time.
- Ship features end-to-end.
- Deploy to production multiple times per day using continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Work with large language models for intelligent analysis and automation features.
- Own features in a small team where the code runs at active mines.
- Interact directly with users to understand customer needs and translate operational challenges into intuitive, high-impact features.
- Work closely with the CEO to build the engineering organization from the ground up.
- Startup experience, including comfort with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats.
- Strong TypeScript proficiency.
- A strong network of top-tier engineers.
- Familiarity with computer vision or machine learning inference pipelines.
- Experience integrating with industrial or Internet of Things systems.
- Preference for functional programming styles such as immutability and declarative patterns.
