Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Active registration and good standing with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta.
  • Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
  • Able to understand, speak, read, and write effectively in English.
  • Able to demonstrate observation, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Successful candidates must obtain a Criminal Background Check and provide proof of all mandatory immunizations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide care and support to residents, residents’ families, and volunteers within the designated scope of practice and established policies and procedures.
  • Promote resident choice, dignity, independence, and responsive care aligned with holistic needs and care plans.
  • Conduct complete nursing assessments to establish and prioritize care and determine appropriate collaboration with Registered Nurses and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Document resident care assessments, interventions, outcomes, and reports accurately and on time in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate unsafe conditions and immediately report unsafe conditions in the work environment.
  • Attend and actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care conferences, and health and safety education opportunities.
  • Share knowledge of residents and advocate for resident choice.
  • Participate in and assist the interdisciplinary team in maintaining a resident-centered care environment.
  • Foster constructive, caring relationships with interdisciplinary team members, residents, families, and visitors.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Health Care Aides and assume the in-charge role when necessary.
  • Lead, develop, and coach employees to support a high-performance culture.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous Licensed Practical Nurse experience.
  • Dementia Care Certificate and experience.
  • Knowledge of the RAI/MDS 2.0 tool, computer skills, and electronic documentation.
