GSE Mechanic
About the job
- A minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a GSE or diesel mechanic is required, preferably in the aviation industry.
- Technical certifications or licenses are preferred.
- A valid motor vehicle driver's license is required for both airside and non-airside operations; the employer will help obtain airside authorization.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations is required.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills are required.
- Dedication to maintaining a clean and organized work environment is required.
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on ground service handling equipment.
- Set up, install, modify, and renovate equipment as directed.
- Maintain inventory records of machinery, equipment repairs, and service-cycle activities.
- Operate and drive motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Respond to on-call maintenance requests, including after-hours service calls, as directed by the GSE Manager.
- Troubleshoot and provide diagnostic assessments of ground support equipment.
- Modify and overhaul power plant, drivetrain, brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Follow safety guidelines, respond to accidents involving ground support equipment, and adhere to security requirements.
- Pick up parts and materials required for maintenance and repair of ground support equipment.
- Use tools and diagnostic equipment properly for equipment maintenance and repair.
- Complete maintenance and repair documentation in compliance with relevant regulations and AGI guidelines.
- Keep the GSE shop and its equipment clean and serviceable, and report deficiencies to management.
- Fuel equipment as necessary while following safety and environmental requirements.
- Liaise professionally with ramp management, customers, and staff when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
