Requirements
  • A Master's degree is required; in exceptional circumstances, applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the course content.
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP).
  • Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Minister of Education.
  • Experience teaching in the Quebec school system.
  • Must be available to attend a course coordination and planning meeting at least two weeks before the course start date.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
Responsibilities
  • Teach EDEC 203-001, Communication in Education, covering written and oral communication in education in English, strategies for identifying, analyzing, and solving writing and speaking problems, academic and professional communication in education, and classroom communication.
  • Work with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre-service teachers is an asset.
  • Familiarity with MyCourses or similar online platforms.
  • Familiarity with online platforms such as Zoom is an asset.
  • Familiarity with teaching blended classes.
  • Understanding equity and diversity issues and how to address these in classrooms.
  • Technology skills to practice.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
