Position summary:
O&M Sr. Product Manager
We are looking for a highly motivated, driven, and passionate individual to join the IHI Terrasun Product Management team who can drive and grow our O&M portfolio of services and business partnerships.
As part of the product management team whose focus is to define and validate the roadmap for the company this role focuses on enhancing existing and creating new operations and maintenance offerings that create value for our customers and increase Terrasun’s market share.
This individual should be passionate about renewable energy and working in a fast-paced team environment with a dedication to customer value creation, quality and service.
The O&M Product Manager’s responsibilities include developing a roadmap for the product portfolio and bringing together a cross-functional team to make the vision a reality.
Primary Job Functions
- Define Terrasun O&M offerings with detailed market evaluations, development schedules, cost models, and business case analysis that align with strategic and financial business objectives.
- Understand customer project development and operational performance environments
- Understand and follow the market requirements changes for energy markets that Terrasun is in to anticipate requirements changes.
- Define and develop tools to analyze pricing models
- Review and understand customer’s BESS project requirements, including incoming Request for Proposals (RFPs) and solicitations. Understand requirements including BESS use cases and applications, power and energy sizing, reactive power capability, and system operational performance.
- Support IHI Terrasun due diligence processes of BESS supply opportunities, including internal approvals and corporate governance processes.
- Support commercial and technical negotiations of BESS supply contracts.
- Contribute to IHI Terrasun internal tools and processes for designing, proposing, and contracting BESS solutions.
- Evaluate and benchmark established supplier’s offerings, perform make/buy analysis, and establish key partnerships as needed.
Job Dimensions (skills, knowledge & abilities)
- Domain experience: Experience working for field services or warranty teams supporting utility scale battery storage systems.
- O&M services portfolio experience: Experience identifying, defining, launching, delivering complete service offerings for long term sustainment of BESS projects.
- Excellent communicator: Ability to simplify and eloquently communicate complex problems and at the same time go deep with those that have the technical expertise and desire to understand the details of the assumptions that go into each analysis.
- Ability to follow and communicate, at an executive level, the requirement changes in key energy markets as well as customer project development and operational performance environments
- Demonstrated abilities: self starting, attention to detail & accuracy, strong analysis capabilities, confidentiality, decision-making, delegation, dependability, diplomacy, and ethical behavior
Qualifications (Education & Work Experience)
Basic Qualifications
- Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management or other related field from an accredited college/university or relevant O&M servcies evaluation and execution experience.
- Ability to effectively work as an individual but also coordinate and work with a multi-disciplinary team is a must.
- High capacity for organization and attention to detail.
- Fast learner and capable of executing multiple projects and objectives.
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Skills (Office, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desired Qualifications
- MBA
- 5+ years of experience in energy storage, renewable energy or related field
- Demonstrated ability developing and launching O&M service offerings
- Technical knowledge of BESS subcomponent equipment including Batteries, Power Conditioning System (PCS), Energy Management System, Power Plant Controller, SCADA, and reporting systems
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- IHI has offices in Chicago. This position could be remote.
- Position involves 10 - 20% or more travel to customer sites and conferences

The national pay range for this role is $135,000 - $165,000 / year and is considered a Level P2 – Developing Professional Individual Contributor role. This pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, and location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in an annual discretionary bonus.
