Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurses hired with an Associate of Science in Nursing degree must complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within two years.
  • Hold a valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
  • Hold Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • Have a minimum of two years of nursing experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures, including sanitation and decontamination.
  • Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Responsibilities
  • Assess assigned patients and evaluate care plans, including documenting nursing care.
  • Report symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions and vital signs.
  • Modify patient treatment plans based on patients’ responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patients’ conditions.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering patient age and culture.
  • Provide information about treatment plans and psychological support.
  • Perform appropriate patient tests and safely administer medications within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records related to medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Communicate the plan of care to patients, families, and appropriate team members while complying with regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA.
  • Use best practices for transitions of patient care.
  • Use available resources to assist with discharge planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and provide patient care.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist new staff in providing care and acclimating to the healthcare environment and direct patient care.
  • Provide concise and constructive feedback when needed.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
