Requirements
  • Possession of an N-1 License is required, with basic training and experience operating an industrial wastewater treatment plant.
  • At least 1 year of satisfactory experience operating and maintaining equipment used in water control or purification facilities is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all mechanical and maintenance functions required for the position.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical, algebraic, and statistical calculations using a scientific calculator.
  • Must be able to perform root-cause problem-solving techniques.
  • Must be PC literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook, and demonstrate computer proficiency.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods; work in confined spaces and at heights; climb stairs or ladders; bend and kneel; lift 50 pounds periodically; and wear a required respirator.
  • Must have good listening, public-speaking, organizational, decision-making, multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct wastewater facility operations in compliance with guidelines established by the local utility.
  • Conduct equipment maintenance projects, housekeeping, preventive maintenance, and grounds maintenance.
  • Conduct water sampling, sludge handling, safety inspections, and chemical transfers.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment while performing job duties.
  • Administer receipt of chemical deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, environmental, Good Manufacturing Practice, and company rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Maintain chemical inventory and report regularly.
  • Maintain records of equipment runtime and chemical dosages.
  • Complete work orders, including chemical feed pump repairs and calibration, valve and operator repairs, and general mechanical maintenance.
  • Attend department, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice meetings.
  • Communicate shift activities to the Maintenance Manager daily.
  • Operate and generally maintain low-lift and high-service pumps.
  • Make necessary chemical adjustments for process control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
