Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least one year of experience using Python-based tools, including building pipelines and reusable tooling rather than one-off analysis scripts, is required; placements, internships, and substantial projects are accepted.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices, including GitHub, linting, automated tests, and integration tests in the pull-request workflow, is required.
  • At least one year of experience in carbon accounting under leading frameworks such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISO 14064, CBAM, or PACT is required.
  • Proven experience in industrial decarbonisation specification and modelling, preferably focused on mass and energy efficiency, is required.
  • A solid understanding of industrial processes, energy systems, and process flow diagrams is required.
  • The role requires problem-solving ability and attention to detail, particularly when validating figures that appear unusually clean.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders are required.
Responsibilities
  • Own the current customer delivery pipeline by interpreting, extracting, and validating customer-provided data against mass and energy balances and engineering heuristics.
  • Turn data-validation findings into clear insights and present them to customers alongside the Customer Success team.
  • Deliver end-to-end automation of the customer data pipeline, covering ingestion, extraction, validation, and analysis, to create a scalable, fully automated, and auditable pipeline.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to shape new reporting features that help customers identify, track, and amplify decarbonisation wins across their value chains.
  • Work with the methodology for tracking compliance readiness and gaps against standards such as ISO, PACT, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
  • Encode compliance-readiness and gap-tracking methodology into reporting and modelling logic.
  • Own the central knowledge hub for the methodology and support commercial queries related to it.
  • Collaborate with data science, modelling, and customer-facing teams to replace manual data-validation and processing work with production-grade pipelines.
  • Support the Customer Success team in building customer narratives and presentations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in early-stage startups from Seed to Series A, with the ability to work effectively in fast-moving environments.
  • Familiarity with systems thinking in the context of value-chain modelling.
  • Familiarity with general artificial intelligence tools.

Neutreeno provides a B2B SaaS platform that helps companies decarbonize their supply chains by targeting Scope 3 emissions. The system analyzes product manufacturing using proprietary process networks and engineering models to map industrial processes, identify emissions hotspots, and recommend material or process changes to reduce energy use and waste. It requires as few as ten data points per supplier, enabling insights with much less data collection than traditional carbon accounting. Its goal is to help large enterprises and SMEs cut emissions while lowering operating costs, and it has supported its growth with a seed funding round to expand its technology.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 One Earth publication expands Neutreeno's authority with global climate scientists.
  • AeroEdge's August 2026 partnership validates Neutreeno in aerospace manufacturing and Japan.
  • Neutreeno's website reports 21-day insight delivery, strengthening ROI-led enterprise sales.

What critics are saying

  • Neutreeno still has only one disclosed round: October 2024's $5 million seed.
  • AeroEdge remains the flagship proof point, creating customer-concentration risk if expansion stalls.
  • If procurement teams prefer Watershed or Persefoni, Neutreeno's science never becomes budgeted software.

What makes Neutreeno unique

  • Cambridge spinout Neutreeno pairs academic credibility with Spencer Brennan's July 2026 One Earth research.
  • Its CSA framework uses supplier- and process-level primary data, not generic carbon estimates.
  • AeroEdge's 2026 case showed 80.5% energy efficiency gains and €1 million annual savings.

AeroEdge's decarbonization efforts featured in research paper by Neutreeno and the University of Cambridge.

AeroEdge's decarbonization efforts featured in research paper by Neutreeno and the University of Cambridge. AeroEdge Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that its decarbonization initiatives was featured in a research paper published by Neutreeno, a startup from the University of Cambridge and its strategic partner. The paper, entitled "Credible, Scalable, Actionable: Principles for Scope 3 Emissions Measurement and Supply Chain Decarbonization", presents the results of joint research on the measurement and reduction of Scope 3 emissions and has been published in One Earth, the international scientific journal issued by Cell Press. The paper highlights several case studies including AeroEdge's decarbonization efforts. As companies pursue increasingly ambitious decarbonization goals, reducing Scope 3 emissions, which often account for the largest share of a company's total carbon footprint, has become a critical challenge. However, commonly used emissions accounting methodologies do not fully reflect differences in actual manufacturing processes and supplier-specific performance, making it difficult to design and evaluate effective emissions reduction measures. The paper proposes the CSA Principles, standing for Credible, Scalable, and Actionable, and demonstrates the importance of a scientific approach to proactive management of Scope 3 emissions based on primary data collected at both the supplier and process levels. The framework also aims to improve both the reliability and practical effectiveness of emissions measurement. The paper also introduces a pilot case study estimating the potential CO[2] emissions reduction opportunities within AeroEdge's manufacturing processes. AeroEdge, as the first demonstration partner in Japan, agrees with Neutreeno's decarbonization initiative and AeroEdge Co. has been working with Neutreeno to visualise environmental impacts and identify opportunities for emissions reduction throughout its aerospace supply chain. This initiative has also been recognised by Safran Aircraft Engines, as an advanced and forward-looking approach to supply chain decarbonization. AeroEdge will continue its collaboration with Neutreeno to contribute to both decarbonization and enhanced industrial competitiveness through data-driven sustainability initiatives. AeroEdge is striving to respond to any need of manufacturing solution and any change of business environment in order to keep its technical and competitive edges. AeroEdge Co. is trying to maximize autonomy and creativity working with enthusiasm toward innovative achievements that have never been done before. Its mission statement "Create One from Zero" is the basics to create new value in the world and contribute to happiness of the people. https://aeroedge.co.jp/
