Chevron sets US production record, beats estimates for 7th straight quarter, targets $250 share price

Chevron set a US upstream production record of 2,077 MBOED in its second quarter and exceeded earnings per share estimates for seven consecutive quarters. The energy company's Q2 adjusted EPS jumped to $6.06 as revenue rose 51.4% to $67.20bn. The firm captured $1.5bn in Hess savings within a year of closing, beating its original target by 50%. Chevron reached $3bn in annual run-rate cost cuts six months early. The company signed Project Kilby, a 20-year power deal with Microsoft to supply 2.67 gigawatts, targeting mid-teens returns independent of oil prices. Management says talks for similar deals are advanced. Chevron trades at 15 times forward earnings, below the S&P 500's roughly 21 to 23 times multiple. Shares are up 40% year-to-date.

Jim Cramer calls Chevron CEO Mike Wirth a 'beacon of rationality' as oil giant targets 10% annual cash flow growth

Jim Cramer has praised Chevron Corporation CEO Mike Wirth as a "beacon of rationality" during recent energy market turbulence. Cramer, who has favoured the oil giant for over a year, highlighted Wirth's calm leadership style. Chevron's second quarter showed strong performance, with revenue growing 56% and global upstream production rising 20%. The company reached a milestone of one million barrels in Permian production, expecting capital intensity there to fall 25% by 2026. The firm plans to grow free cash flow and earnings per share by 10% annually through 2030, assuming $70 per barrel oil prices. However, Chevron's heavy reliance on oil, compared to rivals like Shell and Exxon who have diversified into LNG, presents potential vulnerability.

Chevron climbs 2.1% as $109 oil and Microsoft data-centre deal drive AI-power pivot

Chevron shares rose 2.1% to $216.58 as Brent crude climbed to $109.20 per barrel, driven by Saudi export disruptions, Libyan outages and infrastructure attacks. The stock now trades 33.55% above its GuruFocus fair value estimate of $162.17. The energy producer reported $12.1 billion in second-quarter earnings whilst worldwide production increased 20%. Chevron reduced debt by $8.4 billion and signed a 20-year power agreement with Microsoft for a West Texas data centre project. The Microsoft deal positions Chevron to supply electricity for AI infrastructure, creating a revenue stream beyond traditional oil and gas. However, the premium valuation suggests investors are pricing in sustained high commodity prices and significant growth from new power opportunities.

Jim Cramer picks Chevron as energy kicker in fantasy portfolio, stock up 40% this year

On the 8 September episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer likened Chevron Corporation to a reliable fantasy football kicker, highlighting its 3.4% yield and nearly 40% stock gain this year. He noted that energy stocks like Chevron often trade independently from broader market movements due to oil price dynamics. Chevron's second-quarter earnings showed total revenues of $70.06 billion and net income of $12.1 billion. Worldwide net oil-equivalent production jumped 20% year-over-year to 4.07 million barrels per day, driven by legacy Hess assets and Permian Basin expansion. On 3 September, BMO Capital raised its price target to $235 from $210, citing Venezuela operations as a growth driver. Piper Sandler increased its target to $243 from $207 the same day.
